The Angry Silence (1960)
Continuity needed attention
Great film, Richard Attenborough as usual is a very natural actor, the kids are good too. Niggly and noticeable continuity errors always drop the standard.
A View from a Hill (2005)
A neurosis perhaps?
For me, this is one of the most disturbing ghost stories on film. Very atmospheric, I'm convinced Dr Fanshawe is fresh from the war with some sort of neurosis. I haven't read the story so maybe this is the case. It's particularly scary when he's pushing his bike through the woods and the staff of the house have to search for him after dark. Mark Letheren's moody performance really fits the bill and the frosty weather during filming just add to the overall effect.
A Warning to the Curious (1972)
Love this ghost story
Love this ghost story and pretty sure I would have been sitting up with my dad watching it on Christmas eve 1972! Watching it today I feel that William Ager's ghost looks just a little like Tiswas' phantom flan flinger, and crickets or cicadas wouldn't have been singing in the dead of winter in Norfolk! Great views of Waxham, Happisburgh and Wells next the sea. Great acting, very atmospheric.
