Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
More of this Disney!
Cretton is an amazing director, and he like totally proves it here once again. I love the way he tells stories, and Shang-Chi is finally not just like every other mindless Disney film of their new big franchises. The action is worth it compared to other Marvel films, and the acting is to be expected as great considering at least Disney knows how to hire actors, albeit they don't let people often tell real stories. Go watch this! Somewhere! Anywhere! Everywhere!
My Little Pony: Equestria Girls (2013)
interesting...
Alright so it's tough for me to get by the pony people aspect of this, but once that was in the rearview mirror and I had adequate time to adapt, I can always appreciate the voice acting of these actors. I don't know if this was entirely necessary, but it at least spices up the MLP universe and gives a new aspect to the world. I think kids who enjoy MLP will still enjoy this, and the songs are reminiscent of Friendship is Magic.
To All the Boys I've Loved Before (2018)
Sweet Teen Movie
With so many unfathomably stupid teen romance movies out there, this one is a breath of fresh air. The acting from Condor in particular is very good, and Centineo does enough in his role to make the relationship believable and cute. I mean, liked it enough to watch the second one, so I can get on board with this.
No Time to Die (2021)
Thank you Bond
It made me very happy this film had the guts to kill off Bond. Like, you're moving on anyway, and it was just such a powerful ending. And the progression of this character into one that is increasingly not an outdated womanizer was very welcome. He actually was in love with someone from a prior film, not whatever shallow relationship motivation they've put in so many Bond movies with the women characters they add and nonsensically kill off. Definitely worth a watch and my favorite Craig Bond film.
Stranger Things (2016)
Innovative and good ideas
I have to say, I have been pleasantly surprised with how effective the new ideas have been at creating compelling storylines in the new seasons. I didn't know what direction the story could go in after season 2, but after the third one was still very enjoyable (especially when Montgomery and MBB were on screen), I wouldn't bet against them coming up with something interesting enough to keep interest for season 4.
My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
Nice film
This MLP film throws a few bones to fans of the last series while keeping true to the Friendship is Magic vein of having a valuable message and one focused on friendship and inclusion. I'm very happy they put in a main male pony, as while kids of course have the imagination to envision themselves as any pony, I just feel like it's a nice way of saying, "hey, this is for you too." Definitely good for kids, and it had some moments that made me laugh too.
Alpha Rift (2021)
I'm a fan
I love love loved the chemistry between Dalla Villa and Nielsen, their moments together were definitely the cutest of the movie. If the script had less needless cursing, their scenes could've come across even better, but alas, the film played too much into whatever angle that was. Still though, Henriksen's voice is mesmerizing enough to more than make up for those lines. I'd give it a watch. I mean, it's not a remake, ya know?
The Cat in the Hat (2003)
No. Just no.
I don't feel like any more needs to be said than just this: no one needs to ever think of or remember this movie. It can be stored away somewhere very far away. I just cannot stand looking at that cat monstrosity for what feels like an eternity.
If you can stomach the appearance of the cat, well, maybe there is hope of a different opinion. I just don't know.
Frozen II (2019)
Solid Sequel
I was not of the opinion that Frozen needed a sequel, but this was certainly a worthy attempt. They try to milk some dramatic moments a little unnecessarily, but there are also some very cute and funny moments, and the music is enjoyable too.
Me Before You (2016)
Emilia Clarke YES
Emilia Clarke is great in everything she does and this is no different. She adds life to any film, and Claflin is nice in his role too. Definitely worth a watch if you like romantic films.
