Hulk (2003)
Never did I believe Ang Lee would sink this low...
A piece of advice: Do not see this movie... Okay, go ahead and watch it, I strongly recommend it if you're suffering from insomnia!
I've never in my life wasted good money on something and truly regretted it afterwards... after half an hour, I was considering going to the ticket office and demanding my money back... Why I didn't?
Well, first of all, it wasn't their fault the movie SUCKED, and second, I was kind of hoping the movie would come around... It was, after all, Ang Lee...
BAD me, bad bad bad BAD me! NEVER ever go see a movie just because it was made by a specific director again, BAD me!
There was a plot, believe it or not, and it would have WORKED, if it hadn't been for the length of the film... It was sooooo duuuuullll and soooo increeeeeeediblyyyy loooong...
It's a bad sign when your butt starts getting sore after fifteen minutes, if it's a good movie, you won't notice that! I noticed, and I sat squirming in my seat for two freaking hours...
The animation was... weeeeell, so and so.... But the character HULK didn't work for me... I mean, they could have put Shrek in that movie and that would have worked better! ( In my opinion, Shrek was better animated too! ) The killer dogs were completely stupid... Every time I saw the poodle, I'd poke my friend next to me and whisper "Püttel Hündt" ( I think that's my dad's very CRUDE Swedish translation of that particular canine race ! )
I have to admit, that seeing this movie brought back a lot of memories... of Super Mario Bros. 3! Remember back in the early 90's, when the ordinary Nintendo box was THE best toy you could own? And Super Mario Bros. 3 ( the one in the yellow packings ) was the hottest and most hightech game you could get?! Well, Hulk's jumping around when escaping from the military base reminded me A LOT of that, and I poked my brother and we started humming the theme for that game... that was a great game...
I don't even wanna go anywhere NEAR the acting... Eric Bana, well... I don't know him, and I don't really wanna ditch him because of a stupid movie that COULD have been good, but went really really wrong... Jennifer Connelly! Wow... Sure she can act, why doesn't she show it... I had to go all the way to Nick Nolte to find someone who WAS actually acting in a way that I enjoyed... and he ended it up by OVER acting! *grabs her head and slams it into the keyboard in front of her* *Grroooooooooooooooooan*
I think the best thing about this movie was the score! Danny Elfman, always a pleasure! No problems there...
Anyway, nevermind my little rant here... But go see TombRaider II instead... That's actually ENTERTAINING....!
Fra den gamle Købmandsgaard (1951)
My great grandfather is in this movie!
He's in it for as split second as the taxi driver who drops off Ida's father at the pier... That's the only reason why I like this movie... :) Otherwise it's a typical Danish Christmas movie from the early fifties... worth a look! :)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Oh... my... God... *spoilers*
I loved this movie... I loved Fellowship too, but this one... it's so funny...! The tone in FOTR is very very serious between the fellowship, compared to the tone between my three main men after seeing this movie: Legolas ( I love that guy! ), Gimli, And Aragorn...!
The development in relationship between these three is awesome... we already know that Aragorn and Legolas go way back, and that Gimli can be a thorn in the eye on both of them from time to time... But the way these three act together, it's unbelievably cool! The love-hate relationship between these three, it is so brilliant, I was in awe...! Especially between Gimli and Legolas, the frustrating outbursts of Legolas towards Aragorn at Helm's Deep and the sneaky attack at the bridge of Helm's Deep when we get to learn a little more about "nobody tosses a dwarf!" I liked this trio, but I loved the relationship between the dwarf and the elf...
I also liked Elijah Wood more in this movie than in FOTR, he's very dark and brooding and it shows the burden of the ring very clearly... I feel so sorry for poor Frodo, but I loved his development in character anyway!
But the TRUE star of the show... Left me in awe ... again... Poor, POOR Smeágol! This poor creature is so miserable you can only feel sorry for him... he's so cute at sometimes and so disgustingly evil at other times... The way his split personalities work was a bit confusing at first, but it makes sense when you think about it a time or two...
Go see this movie... don't argue, DO IT... It's incredible... I think the reason why it 100% lives up to the first one is due to the fact that they shot all the films at one time...! They didn't have to do better than the first one, and that is great...
So go see this movie, and enjoy the scenery, the wonderful acting, the feel of the whole thing... And enjoy the ironic joking between Legolas and Gimli in particular...
I love this movie... Whoever said it was boring or lacked something was wrong... ask the people who were with me last night at the Danish premiere at Imperial, Copenhagen... I think they'd disagree...!
Creature (1998)
Jaws Vs. DeepBlueSea Vs. Aliens Vs... etc etc.
*spoilers included* I bought this movie because the back of it said that Stan Winston was behind the special effects. Somehow, I have a feeling that the people who made this movie were ripping off some of the best horror movies made, and that's why they included Stan Winston on the special effects area, to justify the rip offs from... well, I saw at least a dozen Aliens rip offs... The creature itself in appearence is a MAJOR rip off of H.R. Gigers' Alien design, I bet they stole the teeth from the alien-costume and placed in this mutant-shark-dolpin's skull... Okay, I admit it, there were some scary scenes, but... heh... I found Jaws scarier... A piece of advice... If you have the chance, then rent this movie, do not make the same mistake I did, and buy it... It's a waste of precious time...
On Hostile Ground (2000)
WATCH OUT FOR THE KILLER COOKIE DOUGH!
This movie seemed to be a Volcano sidekick, but after seeing it half n' half, I had to agree with myself that this was one of the funniest movies ever made... I don't know which catastrophy is worse, the movie or the one that the killer cookie dough is supposed to prevent... Someone hand me the chocolate chips, please!
