Psych: Right Turn or Left for Dead (2013)
One of my favorite episodes but...
So I totally disagree with the other reviewer. This is one of my favorite episodes and I think they did a great job with the two timelines running side by side.
The scene in the Swedish bar is so great! I still laugh even though I've seen it so many times! I love Mrs. Pastrnak, great character, and lassies reaction to the dog along with Gus's also makes for some great scenes.
Couple things that could've been done better is anyone seen they show you in pictures of the other murdered boyfriends and she identifies them as Corey and Eric. Then in a later seen your pictures are on the board in the police station and they're labeled opposite.
The biggest problem I have with this episode is the way that Juliet finds out about Shawn - Finding the tickets in the jacket pocket, to me that really wasn't very believable. There are tons of other things that happened in prior episodes that she could've questioned. I just think they could have been more creative and developed that reveal a lot better.
I also don't like Jeff Tambor as her step father - he's so creepy and seems too old.
Psych: Romeo and Juliet and Juliet (2010)
One of the funniest episodes
From the first time I saw this episode and 10 years later this episode is hysterical. I totally disagree with the other review about racism ITS A JOKE
The scene where he tries to do charades bc he thinks the other triad leader doesn't speak English is classic as well as the scene at the dojo where Shawn gets into the kids class due to ageism. Gus is the best in that scene.
Just so much funny silliness in this one if there are Chinese people that are offended then I'm sorry but I thought the jokes mostly made Shawn look foolish and the many Chinese actors including Bruce Locke (who I love) were great at interacting with Shawn & Gus' juvenile antics.
Psych: In Plain Fright (2010)
One of the funnest episodes
This was such a fun episode - I love the Scooby Doo references and the fact that they met Ken working at Scarefest. I wish they would have written Ken into more episodes - I feel they could have used him more and developed his character .
I thought the scene where Sean tells Gus to squeeze thru the window like Winnie the Pooh was hilarious.
Only thing that didn't track with me is that the kid died on the Ferris Wheel - what did that have to go with Scarefest - they should have had him die in the haunted house or some other Halloween themed rude otherwise why was Scarefest the impetus for the girls retribution when the park apparently stayed open after the accident they just didn't have Scarefest?
The Second Chance (2006)
Not my favorite movie
I was pretty a little disappointed in this movie. I read some of the reviews and I don't agree. I don't think Michael W. Smith did such a great acting job. His singing was great but his acting just average. I thought his character was believable because unfortunately many people who grow up in the big church world are pretty clueless about life outside of theirs, and think that a wad of money will make everything better. I think actually most people are like that. I was also disappointed with the character of the black pastor, always angry and distrusting. . He could have been cynical for all he had to deal with but I thought that was too stereotypical. I was surprised at some of the language, but for PG-13 it wasn't bad. Over all it was a decent movie, better than a lot of the trash that's put out today. I hope Christian producers continue to look for better scripts and better actors.
Something to Sing About (2000)
Worth Watching even without Tamera
I thought this was a really good movie. It's true that it was a little corny, but it was a nice story and for a small production and good acting and excellent production, filming, etc. Tamera Mowery, Irma Hall and Darius McCrary were great. Their characters were believable and their portrayal was excellent. I even noticed and a familiar face from "Eight is Engough." I wish more studios would take the time to make movies like this rather than the garbage that's usually out there. If you're in the mood for a good story without a lot of sex and bad language, you should check this movie out. It is a good movie for families and gives you a lot of things to discuss.
