Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005)
Family Guy On Film
Family Guy is arguably the best animated comedy series out at the moment, with far more laugh out loud moments than comparable comedies like the Simpsons. Stewie Griffin: Untold Story came straight out on DVD and strong sales prove the success of Family Guy as a series. The film does not change the successful Family Guy formula of random humour and flashbacks, all of which results 88 minutes of comedy genius. Seth Macfarlane and the other writers have created an amazingly funny franchise. Overall, the film is extremely entertaining. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to see it, definitely worth watching and will not disappoint fans. Almost certainly one to buy.
The Godfather (1972)
The Perfect Movie
What more is there to say. The Godfather is the greatest film ever made. A 10 out of 10 rating just does not do it justice, there should be an 11 rating reserved just for films like this. The storyline is gripping from start to finish. The acting in this film is beyond brilliant, and there are so many classic scenes. In short it is more than a must see film. It is a fantastic synthesis of the cruel mafia underworld, and the story of the noble family behind it. What would I say to someone thinking of watching this? If you could only watch one other film before you die, then you would have to chose this one.It is the Perfect Movie.
Apocalypse Now (1979)
A Classic Movie
Apocalypse Now is one of those films that you just have to see because it is just so good. Director Francis Ford Coppola (of The Godfather), has once again produced a fantastic film. Great acting and a thrilling and engaging plot also contribute to the enjoyment of the film. The film does lack in some areas with historical accuracy (Helicopter attacks before aerial bombardment), but this is more than made up for by the rest of the film. Put simply, I believe this to be one of the greatest war films ever made. What would I say to somebody interested in this film? Definitely watch it, absolutely no question about it, there is a 0% chance of you not enjoying it.
Hot Fuzz (2007)
Another Great UK Comedy
When this film was released in th UK, it was inevitable that it would be compared to Shaun of The Dead, the team's previous film. I went into the cinema, trying hard not to get my expectations too high. I was not disappointed. The film was absolutely hilarious from beginning to end. Some critics reviewed the film as being funny but slightly too long. I did not find it too long at all, and the ending was one of the funniest moments. I have to travel about 25 miles to get to the nearest cinema, and I was glad that the film wasn't the usual 90 minutes for a comedy film because I felt that it was worth the trouble to get t the cinema to see it. When recommending Hot Fuzz to others, I tell them that it is like Shaun of the Dead but with policemen. Extremely entertaining and a must see movie.
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004)
A great shame, the original was much better.
Starship Troopers 2 should be avoided at all costs by all starship troopers fans and non-fans alike. If you hated the original, you will hate this. If you liked the original, you will hate this even more. It completely fails to do justice to the original. The first of many disappointments is that the story of the characters from the first film is not carried on in this one. Secondly, they could have had some great action scenes of armies of humans and bugs battling each other, but instead decided to go for a small group of people hiding in a building. Thirdly, the special effects are just awful, the acting is poor and the plot line poor. The decisions made by the characters at various points in the film seem unrealistic at best. To sum up, It Is Rubbish!!!
Troy (2004)
This film is a desecration of the real story!!!!!
How could any director be allowed to completely ruin a story like this. It was the worst film since starship troopers 2. I mean I've heard of the director's take on the story, but this goes way way over the line. The excuse I've often heard is that it removes certain homosexual themes from the story. In the real story, it starts out with Paris having to judge which nude goddess is the hottest, and in the film this is replaced by a shot of Brad Pitt's ass. I think that speaks for itself!!!!!!!! What would I say to anyone wanting to see this. If you've read the iliad, or if you want to, don't watch this. It is, to sum up, rubbish!!!!
