A Tribute to to the CPV
18 February 2022
Given the cultural bias imposed by the English language in Singapore, most Chinese Singaporeans who know about the Korean War have formed their views reading Western sources. If you ever want to break out of just being a footnote to global Western cultural dominance, and acquire a sense of self, it is very important to expand your horizons by connecting with the non-Western viewpoint, be that Chinese, Iranian, Russian, Korean etc Watch this movie (Parts 1 & 2) not just for the action and stories of sacrifice of the CPV, but also for a non-Western perspective.

My alternative ending
4 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Credible performances by the actors/ actresses who looked quite natural playing teens.

I watched to see how the storyline would be handled. I walked out at the point where the female protagonist found out that the breakfast had been bought and delivered daily to her female classmate by the male protagonist for whom she had a liking. As far as I was concerned, that was the perfect point to end the thing and move on. C'mon. He was going off to live the rest of his life abroad with his mother; and she really needed to think about direction in hers. What the hell were they doing getting distracted ??!!
