Jet Li Is 'The One' (2002)
How can anyone say that this is just 'Good'?
This is an excellent action movie! I love action movies and have really enjoyed all of Jet Li's recent films (Romeo Must Die, Kiss of the Dragon) but this is the best of them all!
The action sequences rival that of (dare I say it...) the Matrix for technical brilliance and the plot is technical, but not too confusing like so many other 'actor playing two parts' type of films (eg. Maximum Risk?).
All you action movie fans ought to be ashamed of yourselves for not posting your comments on iMDB and to compensate buy the film on DVD, you will not be disappointed.
In closing, if you haven't guessed by now, I loved The One. If you loved the Matrix, you should definitely consider adding this to your Bullet-Time collection (including Max Payne).
Shallow Hal (2001)
Funny, funny, funny!
This is a great film from the Farelly brothers (Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin) and it is so funny, even overweight people will be laughing the the fat jokes.
The film tries to be a romantic comedy but fails somewhat on the romantic comedy side and just ends up being funny, but only in certain places.
I left the cinema with a smile on my face and that is what counts.
Donnie Darko (2001)
X-files episode, Monday?
This is one the worst films I have seen this year.
The plot rambles on and on through the realms of banality and goes nowhere until the last twenty minutes then leaves you with a feeling of deja vu...
Groundhog Day? X-files episode Monday?
If you don't walk out of the cinema within the first hour, you will find that all the plot has been draped over a shamble of a film with some parts completely irrelevant, such as all the parts that Drew Barrymore plays, all the scenes with her in could have been deleted and the film would not suffer. Sorry Drew, this was not your best film.
