Heart of Stone (2023)
Waste of life time
The movie wants to tell an exciting agent story. As is typical for a Netflix production like this, it goes around the world again. We see a lot of technical frippery that would have been better off in "Minority Report" and there is obvious CGI. Neither the fate of the main character, nor that of the villains interests. After seeing it, there is nothing left to remember. It's arbitrary entertainment. We are supposed to admire big stars in a glossy production and get the feeling that cinema is at home by subscription. This is a fallacy. It's a pity for the time we waste on such movies. I recommend watching MI or James Bond instead.
Terrifier 2 (2022)
Violence and gore
This movie has nothing to offer than well made splatter effects which can be understood as a tribute to exploitation horror movies from the 80s. However, this isn't enough to be a good film. If you want to see suffering, screaming and slowly dying people, this is your movie. However, if you want to see a thrilling horror movie that is not only remembered for its excessive senseless and rampant violence, because after all this movie is essentially about celebrating bloodthirsty violence, you won't be happy with this. That clowns can be creepy and besides their clichéd cheerfulness can radiate a dark mysticism has been better captured on film elsewhere.
Coming 2 America (2021)
Neither bad, nor good
The sequel lives to a large extent from the nostalgia of the 1st film. The plot is poor.
I would have liked the idea if the King would have to fly again to America and hide his true identity again, giving his son the opportunity to get to know his father without bias. I know, this plot would be quite similar to the 1st film, but it would have opened the gate for all of this what we have seen again in this film (barber shop, New York cliché fashion, etc.) and some new ideas to make fun of the culture clash between an African Kings's dynasty and ordinary life of people in today's USA. I understand if they wanted to go on a different path but however, this sequel would not have been necessary at all.
Your Life Is a Joke (2021)
Why roasting someone after a (deep) conversation?
I turned off every episode when the stand-up came on. It makes no sense to me to get to know someone for the first time and then roast him/her in the same episode. I was then ashamed and had to turn it off. I like comedy roasts, but it's this strange mix of deep conversations and comedy roasts that feels difficult.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Overall a great sequel
To be honest: I was not really satisfied after the first watch of the movie. But after I have watched it again and recapped the story and all the little details and references, I am now really happy with it. The only thing what I still criticise is that the fighting scenes and action scenes have not been filmed nicely and also cut to fast. I am still wondering why this was done (obviously on purpose? I mean there must be a lot of talented people in Hollywood to do this job). Therefore I have missed a little bit of the kung-fu spirit. That would have done the film a lot of good. The current cut of this scenes is too hectic for me. However, overall a great sequel.
