The Monuments Men (2014)
Weird Combination of Humor and WW2
The casting choices the producer made make a strange presentation of light-hearted humor and death in the backdrop of WW2 that doesn't work, like mixing tuna and chocolate. Some things don't complement each other regardless of the producer's artistic endeavor.
I have been a Bill Murray fan since his early days of SNL, and he's been in some excellent offbeat movies over the years such as Rushmore and Lost in Translation (not to mention all his obvious hits). That said, the nature and subject of this movie doesn't really lend itself to his forte. In my opinion.
George Clooney is nauseating in anything, that's why I revisited watching this trainwreck for so long. But my wife wanted to watch it and we had run out of anything else, so I gave in. After watching it, George Clooney is still nauseating. How did this person ever get anywhere in the acting business?
Pulp Fiction (1994)
The Mystery is Why This Trainwreck is So Popular
Disjointed populist trite cliche in movie form...like a bad dream that lasts a nauseating 2 hours 34 minutes. Once again Sam-U-El Jackson reprises his one character act...is there anytime he's not screaming his lines? What about greasy-headed Travolta. Ugh. One of those films that you need a shower after watching. Then again, considering it's Tarantino, maybe it does justify another look...in the same spirit of the Special Olympics. Or not.
Dirty Money (2018)
How does this get good reviews?
Crap! I love series like American Greed, Dateline, etc. But this "Dirty Money" is as BOOORING as it gets! Just endless platitudes and interviews from people who have nothing substantive to say.
Clickbait (2021)
Woke Crap
Stupid fantasy land plot, predictable, and woke as hell to boot. Waste of time. The only villains are, predictably, white and male. Woke junk like this is boring as hell.
Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich (2020)
Another Documentary With an Agenda
This documentary was interesting and informative. What I found annoying is that it's another thinly veiled slander at President Trump. Although President Clinton reportedly flew on Epstein's so-called Lolita Express 28 times, Clinton was barely mentioned, whereas Trump was mentioned (using the same photo of him with Epstein) no less than 5 times even though his association with Epstein was reportedly minimal. There is no valid justification to bias a documentary this way and it detracts from the overall work.
Killing Fields (2016)
Started Out Good, But Repeats Same Info ad-nauseum
After a few episodes, they begin increasingly repeating the same stuff they've already repeated 3 times over, the same film clips, the same script, the same everything. It started out as an interesting cold case. If they'd just progressed it naturally with limited review it would have been great. Now I'm watching season 2, episode 2, and it is almost an exact copy of season 2 episode 1, which was a complete review of season 1. They don't even bother to change the clips - it's the same video, the same suspects, the same everything. I had to stop it to see if I was watching the same thing over, but I wasn't.
