Gojira-Minira-Gabara: Oru kaijû daishingeki (1969)
My eyes, my eyes!!
By far the worst of the Godzilla movies. Only suited for very young children and most fervent Godzilla fans. Difficult to endure sober, but just bearable with a few brews. All of the monster action takes place on the mind of a grade school boy. He learns not to put up with bullies from his monster fantasies. Horrible special effects are in keeping with the overall look of the production.
Gojira no gyakushû (1955)
Fifties' monster fun.
This is a direct sequel to the first "Gojira", and the first to have another giant monster for Godzilla to fight. Since Godzilla was shown to have been definitely destroyed in the first movie, the creature in this one is said to be another of the same species. After much destruction and mayhem, Godzilla is buried in a glacier to await his next outing. This is a fun movie, with some good use of stark b/w photography made before the headlong plunge into silliness that defined the later films in the series.
