Demon Fighter (2022)
Slow
Very slow movie. Decent idea but the script needed a lot more development. The first part of the movie was set up as an action flick with martial arts. Then it turned into a self indulgent talking head sleeper. The acting was mediocre and could have been better if the director knew how to get in and out of scenes instead of hanging on like the guest who never leaves a party. Actors need to learn when to say no to a poor script. The editing was uninspired. You lose interest in have no real reason to care about any of the characters in the movie. The end sets up a sequel - also uninspired and offers nothing we haven't seen before.
Love N Quarantine (2022)
Missed the boat
The problem with trying to be current is that by the time your movie is out you've already missed the boat. This story about the pandemic quarantine is long past it's shelf life. The overly drawn out script is poorly crafted with the couple going from googly eyed lovers to instant friction within the first 5 minutes. Then its 2 hours of overendulgent actors trying to make something of what appears to be a first draft of a high school script. Nothing appears natural onscreen and the sitcom ending was predictable from the onset. The story needs editing and you can easy cut 45 minutes out. The movie still wouldn't be worth it but at least the viewer would save 45 minutes of their life.
Sam and Elvis (2018)
Subtle nod to Military tradition
The subtle nod to military tradition in the cemetery scene was appreciated and helped define Larry's character. I'm sure not everyone understood it but for some of us it was touchdowns explained Larry's relationship to Molina and Bud. Pen url did a nice job with the character.
