T.H.E. Cat (1966)
Definition of "Cool"
As Sam says, in the tradition of Peter Gunn, the definition of "Cool" TV in the 60's.I have followed Robert Loggia's varied career over the years. A very talented actor with a incredible range of characterizations.Who can ever forget his threatening presence in "Shane" .The almost comical Godfather role in the Pink Panther. I really would love to see this TV series released as a restored version on DVD or Blu-Ray, finally, remember his outstanding stint as host of the TV show "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" and his one hand pushups at the awards show while in his senior years.A real gem of an actor who deserved more credit than he ever received.
Destination Moon (1950)
Robert Heinlein
I have been a big fan of Heinlein since my youth, his earlier works are the best of the best S.F. ever written. I think he went off the deep end toward the end of his career, but I still enjoyed settling down with one of his books for hours of enjoyment. It's a travesty that the Hollywood moguls always had to butcher his novels, Remember Puppet Masters? I can't believe they're into another sequel of Starship Troopers, a movie I can't bring myself to say anything good about, period. Perhaps Peter Jackson should try his hand at adapting one of his novels into a watchable movie, he certainly did a creditable job with the Lord of the Rings,( The greatest story of all time in my opinion ) and won 11 Academy Awards in the process.I would love to see Glory Road,The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, even Farnham's Freehold or Podkayne of Mars made into movies that would honor Heinlein's work. The Man Who Sold the Moon was a collection of short stories, and one in particular stays with me still: The Green Hills of Earth comes to mind every time I hear the song "the Green ,Green Grass of Home".Maybe I'm sentimental, but there you are, so be it.
Soul Survivors (1995)
Still Waiting!
After another 5 years I'm still waiting for this tasty bit of film work to be released for those of us who really love this show. Does anyone know who controls the rights to this movie so that we can get it released? I have a copy recorded on VHS when it was broadcast but I would prefer a DVD copy that I can watch over and over again without major deterioration of the crazy antics of the great cast in one of the best "B" movies of all time.Ian McShane is a real joy (As in Lovejoy)which has now being finally released on DVD for those of us who really appreciate his work, and would love to see this gem as well.Perhaps someday, sigh!
Since my last of 2007, it has now been another 4 years, and still this little gem of a movie hasn't been released. Why? There's a great cast and a lot of quirky antics by this great cast to keep you coming back for repeated viewings. I have become a great fan of Ian McShane since I first saw him with Sean Connery as a Swedish Bank robber. This I feel was one of his greatest roles after his "Lovejoy" series. Does anyone know who has the rights for this lovely bit of film work that has been unavailable for 16 years, so that we could get it released? Anyone?
