Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
Quality Drop
After seeing the first movie of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, this one dissapointed many of the fans (including me) because of it's boring and not enough layered plot and story. Instead of working on the story, JK Rowling and the rest of the team focused on the Harry Potter references on this one, which was definitely a bad desicion. The Crimes of Grindelwald has it's qualities and in my opinion is a decent movie, but the plot feels way too slow and boring. They feed our brains with tons of information and prepare us for the upcoming war while introducing some new characters. Acting was definitely good, especially with Jude Law's young Dumbledore. I loved Johnny Depp's performance as Grindelwald and Ezra Miller killed the role of Creedence. Special Effects are not to be commented, since they were perfect just as cinematography itself. Generally the whole movie is a decent project with that one big flaw.
Schindler's List (1993)
Cinematic Perfection
After so many years I finally saw this masterpiece from Steven Spielberg, and I have to say that this movie could be a perfect example of a cinematic perfection. The atmosphere of the World War 2 and the whole dramatic and emotional situation is perfeclty portrayed, especially with the black and white filter through the whole thing, and with the perfect plot, acting and dialogues "Schondler's List" actually makes you realize how hard and tragic the story of the Jews in the World War 2 is. I absolutely adore the performance of the two main stars, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson and even the other less important actors did a fantastic job. Simply the quality on it's highest.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Dissapointing
As a real Potterhead, I watched Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Premiere in the theatre. After the movie got postponed twice my expectations got higher and I was definitely optimistic about this one. It dissapointed me again. The longest part of the movie is totally unnecessary and boring, filling our heads with some information in a really slow way. The last part of the movie contains few great battles and Harry Potter backstory information so the movie is definitely watchable especially for the Harry Potter fans, but generally the plot barely exists and the whole movie is only a bridge to the new, upcoming one. Just like the last part, The Crimes of Grindelwald, this one contains great visuals and fighting sequences, but awful pacing and a boring plot.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Most Likely The Best Movie of All Time
Peter Jackson already proved his authority with the first two Lord of the Rings movies, and connecting such a perfect director and his team with the perfectly written Tolkien's book can only lead to the perfection. The Return of the King is 4 hours of unforgettable experience. 10/10.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)
Good but not special
After making one of the best movie franchises ever, Warner Brothers brought David Yates, Heyman and their team back to make a new movie settled in the Harry Potter universe, reminding us of the beauty of the Wizarding World and offering us a great new story. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a pure success. The characters are relatable and likable, the story/the plot is fun and the whole introduction to the American Wizarding Word is well made. The whole thing is simply good, but not on a high level as Harry Potter itself, mostly because it is no book adaptation but a simple screenplay.
Inception (2010)
Christopher Nolan and Leonardo DiCaprio = Masterpiece
Christopher Nolan is definitely considered one of the best movie directors at the moment, and nobody can say anything against that. He made so many amazing and successful projects and Inception is in my opinion the best one after The Dark Knight. Then we come to Leonardo DiCaprio who is considered one of the best actors of all time. Connecting those two legends is a perfect way to an amazing movie. Inception is a great, top quality movie. Cinematography and sets are perfect. Acting is top Hollywood level and there is no single quality mistake in the entire movie. Leonardo DiCaprio portrayed the protagonist so good that I can't even imagine it better. The story of Inception is a high level written story. It's not only interesting and layered, but also truly deep and emotional and it leads you to the moment of overthinking your existance. I love the way they portrayed the action in this movie and generally the whole thing is a perfect idea, and a perfect realization.
The Kissing Booth (2018)
New Generations Should Appreciate Old Movies More
As the title says itself, I think that the new generation of kids should appreciate the old movies more than they currently do. The Kissing Booth is supposed to be a teenage, romance drama movie covering the typical relationship and friendship problems in the particular age. The story is a huge cliche, since there is simply too many movies covering exactly the same topic as this one and there is even some pretty succesful and famous ones. Other than that, the screenplay is awful and there is too many awful lines. The whole story is bad written and everything seems too fake. The only reason why many children love this movie nowadays is because of the actors who did a pretty decent job portraying the awful characters in this movie.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
A Tutorial on How to keep the Highest Quality All Until The End
After a perfect introduction, Peter Jackson and the team continued the franchise equally perfect, portraying all the events and characters from the books in a perfect way, and bringing us to even better locations, sets and props than the last year. The Two Towers is (by the story) my personal favourite movie from the Trilogy, and the movie is so well made that there is no need to talk about it at all. A 10/10 and nobody could ever change my mind.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
A perfect introduction to the all-time best Trilogy
Adapting such a masterpiece as Tolkien's Middle-Earth books is a big pressure and definitely not a easy job, but Peter Jackson and his whole team managed to make equally amazing movie series, as the book series itself. The Fellowship of the Ring is a perfect adaptation to the same named book, and it contains all the important information for the story. This movie was a huge suprise to the world, having the best props, sets, locations and the best Cinematography at it's time. Watching a Lord of The Rings movie feels like being there in the particular situation and the way they presented the whole situation, all the wars and drama is nothing less but spectacular. The stars Peter Jackson chose for this Trilogy managed to do an amazing job as well. Ian is a perfect Gandalf, Orlando Bloom nailed the role of Legolas and Elijah Wood is simply a Hobbit himself. In my opinion, this is a perfect introduction movie to the all-time best movie trilogy.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
More than Expected
After the third phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe, the franchise dropped the quality and I don't remember seeing an impressive movie since Phase 4 so far. Spider-Man No Way home became the biggest hype of the year 2021. In the end and I was personally expecting a dissapointment due to the weak performance of MCU in the last time, but No Way Home did way more than I expected. The movie full of nostalgic and emotional scenes. The movie that connects all the generations together and makes a perfect ending to all the three Spider-Man franchises. In the end, this is an another masterpiece from Marvel, with the best fighting scenes I've ever seen in my life, with the best Picture, the best CGI and the best acting so far. I loved The Spider-Men relationships and I have to say that all the three legendary actors (Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) did a perfect job portraying their Spider-Men.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Greatest of All Time
Even with basically all the people knowing about the Season 8's disaster, this TV show is so spectacular that it still remains remembered as number one. Game of Thrones is a TV Show with the most layered, relatable and the most interesting story/plot of all times. A TV Show with the best characters ever written, and generally the best novel adaptation to the television of all times. Every season is made so perfectly that it leads you to the phase which is impossible to be stopped. The addiction becomes worse and worse with each new season and the quality improves all the time. Without Season Eight, Game of Thrones would definitely be a clear 10/10, although it's already a perfect TV series for me.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010)
Slow but Worthy
I read so many reviews and heard so many people saying that the Harry Potter franchise did not need the last book split into two movies, and that this one is way too slow to be enjoyable, but since the last book is the most important one and contains tons of information, I personally like the way they adapted it on the screen. The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is definitely not full of action like the other movies, and there is a lot of camping and slow scenes, but every single scene leads to an important detail which is used later on in the franchise. The whole adventure of collecting the horcruxes is way more interesting with camping and thinking of the next location/move. Other than that, The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is a huge improvement as a picture. The movie generally looks way better than the older ones and with the darkening of the story, the acting became way more dramatic and attractive.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
Not Flawless, but Still Amazing
Since I'm obviously a raw Potterhead, this is always the movie that makes me admit that not the whole Harry Potter franchise is perfect. After David Yates taking over the Potter series and making a perfect movie (Order of the Phoenix) I thought he is not even able to make a mistake in the following parts, but he obviously did manage to make some flaws in the Half-blood Prince. The movie is enjoyable and it holds the watcher's attention the whole time, because the characters (especially the main ones) are still relatable, likeable and simply interesting through the whole story. The plot is a masterpiece as well, perfectly layered and full of new interesting information for the fans, but that's where we come to the main flaw of this movie. It's not a perfect adaptation of the book, as the previous parts were. The Half-blood Prince book is my favourite Harry Potter book, since it's focused on the main antagonist of the entire story, Lord Voldemort. The book is about his history, his origins and his rise, and that is probably the most interesting element of the entire Harry Potter story. Draco Malfoy is the next focus of the story, apperaing a bit rarely than Voldemort, but still enough often. He grows up into a totally new person, mostly forced by his parents but still partly deciding for himself, and since that's a big change, the book talks about it pretty often. Unlike the movie, which is for some reason focused on the teen romance, Ginny and Harry's relationship, as well as Ron and Hermione's one, and the whole thing feels wrong because it doesn't fit the way David Yates presented it. Due to that, he also missed so many important information about Lord Voldemort and Draco, since he took a totally different focus than the book contains. Other than that, the movie still looked very good and David Yates kept the qualities from The Order of the Phoenix (cinematography, props, sets...) but the story made this movie not so perfect like the other parst.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
Straight to the Depth
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the most emotional and the most relatable movie I've ever watched in my life. This is the moment where the magic connects with our real world and presents all the similarities. David Yates changed the Harry Potter franchise in a good way by making it way more serious and removing the childish elements. That is exactly what this franchise needed, since the books did exactly the same thing by becoming more and more serious after each new part. In this movie our main protagonist Harry starts suffering with his mental health and emotions, caused by all the strange things that happened to him since the beginning. All those emotions and feelings are so good presented by the director and the writer that it makes us totally relate and basically feel exactly the same as Harry himself. That is why this movie touched my heart and made me fall in love with this movie franchise. Further, it's also an amazing Picture and I'm amazed by the cinematography and the new original ideas from David Yates.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
The new level of Hype
Mike Newell is a great director and some of his movies really made me think good of him, but The Goblet of Fire is not one of them. He is the only little flaw of this movie, because he never loved Harry Potter as much as the other directors. He never read the books and it feels like he did not enjoy making The Goblet of Fire. Because of his directing, this movie made some major mistakes that triggered many fans who read the books. Still, basically every other element of the movie is a masterpiece, equally as the rest of the series. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is generally one of the best plots in the whole franchise, and the movie is made so good that it holds you focused the whole time. I enjoyed every single second of this masterpiece and I got impressed by the improvement of the acting of our main characters. Emma, Rupert and Daniel grew up a bit and this is the movie where they start taking their job way more seriously.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Cinematic Masterpiece
After seeing the magic of Chris Columbus and finding out that he left the franchise, I would never say that they would be able to find an another perfect director for the following movie. Alfonso made the Prisoner of Azkaban one of the best (if not the best) Harry Potter movies. Comparing it to the rest of the franchise, the sets, props and cinematography is completly in another league. Talking about the story, this movie retold the story in a perfect way, by not missing any important information about the back-stories of the new characters they offered us. A 10/10 for me.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Another Masterpiece from Mr. Columbus
Although many prople find this movie not good enough for the Harry Potter franchise, I'm always proud to say that it is one of my favourite parts. Chris Columbus made the Harry Potter world specifically magical and the ambience gives me chills every time I watch his movies. I adore The Chamber of Secrets because of the story and the plot, and I love the way they presented it on-screen. The movie has some small flaws, but in my opinion, nothing to worry about, it's still a raw masterpiece.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
The Best Novel Adaptation Movie
As a big fan of the books I will never forget this masterpiece of an adaptation. All the magical sets and props made the Wizarding World of Harry Potter feel real and made so many kids and adults fall in love with this movie franchise. Even ignoring the best part of this movie, the story and the plot, I still find The Philosopher's Stone spectacular in every single element. It's impressive how perfect the screenplay is and how accurately all the small details are explained.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011)
Way too underrated
I say that generally for the whole Harry Potter movie franchise, but especially for this epic final part which proved that Harry Potter is not only a childish tale but a high quality movie series that contains all the elements to be one of the best movies ever. I'm a Potter fan and I did read all the books, but even without the amazing story this movie is a cinematic masterpiece and an amazing project in general. In my opinion it deserves even more credit than it has at the moment.
