The Stepford Wives (2004)
not worth your time to see
This movie tried to mix multiple genres and just didn't work. It was very boring in between the funny scenes. Me sitting in the movie theater just wanted to take a remote and hit "fast forward". The movie had a lot of nauseating all happy scenes, that didn't contribute anything to the plot. I feel they were inserted just to eat up time. I feel this whole movie can easily be edited into a 1 hr primetime TV episode.
Also there were many conflicting things that just didn't make sense. Making you feel there are different scripts and plots that were edited together, I cant even say combined. Most of little scenes aren't linked to each other.
Also I could predict the entire movie from just the TV trailers. There really isn't anything to see, its just like waiting for the end, no climax. Plus I feel like I wasted my time in the theater, if this was HBO I would have turned off the TV after 5-10 minutes. Only reason I sat it out was because I paid $10 to see and I wanted to get something.
This movie was a good idea, but just is too unorganized. It would have made a very nice horror/thriller movie/crime drama/horror sci-fi. But instead it tried to be funny, but not in a SNL or scary movie style funniness or a parody. This mixed genre just made the movie nauseating. There is subtle humor, but it just isn't mixed in very nicely (mostly Nicole does it).
In my opinion, if u need a movie that u can, um, be affectionate to your partner in. Stepford Wives is perfect, its so boring and not really interesting u can um take care of your partner.
Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001)
Stupid and fake.
I watched this program for a couple of episodes of the first season. This show tries to be about "real" life, in my opinion it isn't. Most of the kids here don't have like humans. It is a big deal when they don't listen to authority. Something like 1950s US TV and communist propaganda. Have the kids in this show ever misbehaved? This show is like the 1954-1974 Lassie. These people don't behave like humans. They also take punishment happily. All the things they cover we already know. The makers response to every situation is like a public service announcement. Also the plots of this show are never deep. They have one climax per episode. One problem, one main character. Nothing is ever going on at the same time in this show. Some of the kid's personalities and acts (prepies, punks, goths, geeks, etc) don't exist in real life. Emma doesn't exist in real life, just to name one character. Where are all the gangs, rebels, drug addicts, trouble makers, turf wars, sex, guns, weapons, ghetto, triangle relationships, cheating, deaths, cops, accidents, dean, school security, blackmail, teachers problems (significant), suspensions, truancy? All this stuff happens at my school (NYC, USA), why not on TV? The show has no substance. Look at Boston Public, that is a fairly good representation of real life (except where teachers care about the students). I also miss 24Seven on "The-N". Why did that show get cancelled and this one didn't?
A Far Off Place (1993)
Super script and actors, uninteresting plot
I saw this film on tv (WAM network on cable). Everything about this movie was good except the book they took this movie from is realllly boring. I have to say that this is the first movie I have seen which has no script gaps (like they constancy include a character but he doesn't do anything) and is easy to understand. Reese and Ethan and Sarel were perfect and charming. The film was real and you can almost see it in real life. The filming was perfect (I don't come to see a movie which is entirely black). Overall this is a overall abnormally good family movie which isn't for brain dead toddlers (like Barney), but that a whole family can watch (even the teenagers) together. You might want to know there are assault rifles in the movie but they kept it to a absolute minimum and put no emphasis on them (not like a bloody action movie). Also your kids should understand that people can die and never come back ("they went to Jesus" would be a good thing to explain). Ultimately they should have chosen another book to do the film on but the film crew did a exceptionally good job at it. And I have no problems with it except the plot is boring (3 kids running across a dessert) but still SEE THE MOVIE WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY!.
