The Sixth Commandment (2023)
Difficult Watch - True Story
This was very hard to watch, it made me so sad 😔. Based on a true story and considering I'm a killer documentary fan, I'm surprised I've never heard of this case. The acting is amazing, I'm so impressed. Timothy Spall once again shows us why he's been in the game for so long. You really feel for the character he plays, Googling the real person (after watching obv's) not only hurts your heart a little more, it emphasises just how good Timothy is. As for Eanna Hardwicke, TAKE. A. BOW! I had no idea who he was before watching this and his character enthralled me so much I had to look him up. What a creepy, slimy, intriguing, charming, (I could go on) man. I've no idea (yet) if the real person was like this, but an absolute masterpiece from him, bravo! I've just watched a couple of his other trailers and couldn't believe it's the same guy in some of them! The rest of the cast were superb and believable. Aaaaaaaaaand only 4 episodes, boom!
Mother's Deadly Son (2022)
Better than expected (potential mild spoilers)
I think I've finally hit middle age, I'm obsessed with documentaries about killers and movies in a Lifetime stylee! Although I love them, I'm not a fan of showing the baddy at the beginning then warping into the future. And this my friends, is where MDS differs, albeit slightly... Some good acting with the exception of Dad, I thought he was awful at the beginning, sorry Dad. A few little twists, a bit like being on the Mouse at Blackpool (UK), nice locations & houses helped to make this an enjoyable little time filler. Ho hum still got 78 characters, oh yeah, the son was really good looking haha, 30 years younger and all that lols 😂
Seven Seconds (2018)
Late to the party but wow
Well that was a surprise, definitely a grower 😜, I was 👌🏻 close to saying, nah, not for me. So glad I stuck with it. How have I have not heard about it before now? Thanks Netflix! I've lost count of how many films or series' I've started then dropped 'cos they just did not glinch me (yes it's my word). Thought this was another. I. Was. Wrong.
There's sooooo much I want to say #nospoilers. If you haven't seen it, go in blind and 'enjoy' the ride. Deep, dark, topical, heart wrenching, infuriating. Great characters. Agggghh everything I start to write gives me spoiler vibes & I'm still under the required characters. Yay done it! Excellent series 👏🏼
The Rising (2022)
Too Loooong
Promising start, way too many episodes. I liked the premise but the delivery fell short, this could have been done in 4 or 5 episodes, 8 was just silly. It kept me guessing for a while. Some good performances and I must admit I got a teeny weeny bit emosh a couple of times 😃
