Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
GREAT GREAT FLICK
To date this is QT's best effort and BP"s best role. TEN STARS
Stan & Ollie (2018)
SUPERB CINEMA
For anyone who loved Laurel & Hardy, this movie is great entertainment on every level. The two lead actors are amazing and the film is worth every penny of the ticket price. Enjoy.
Vice (2018)
AS GOOD AS IT GETS
This movie will not disappoint. No matter what side of the fence you're on, the acting, writing and execution is so perfect that you will want to see it again. Enjoy.
The House That Jack Built (2018)
A TOUGH ONE TO WATCH
Not only is the film way too long and all over the place, but haven't we seen enough violence directed toward women, children, small animals? This isn't art. This isn't poetry. It's garbage with a capital G. To think that Uma Thurman would be in a film like this, one of our greatest actresses, is quite discouraging and very sad.
Louis (2013)
This charming short will renew your faith in life.
It's been quite rare when I've seen an indie film contain so much love, so much life affirming energy, so much positive emotion at one sitting. And that says nothing about the beautiful photography, wonderful story and tight, crisp post production. I first became aware of Jonathan Perera's work when I saw his film, Papa, at a film festival in Europe. I was impressed and inspired by the depth and beauty of this young man's vision. To see how much he's grown as a serious cinema professional over the past few years is a joy because he speaks to those of us who truly love this medium as an honest means of spiritual communication. I know when you watch this precious short you will feel the same way. And I know when you discover his feature, Papa, you will become a permanent fan.
The Attic (2010)
Awesome Movie on a Shoestring
I saw this picture at an NYC screening and was blown away. In The Attic, an out-of-control cop, consumed by hate and anger, destroys himself, his family and everyone he touches. Mr. Muntzner's writing is outstanding in this gritty tale and his performance is out-of-this-world. What true indie films are all about. No glitz, no glamor, just amazing words and stabbing emotions. I loved Candice Lenoir's depiction of a desperate mother hopelessly addicted to drugs. And watching it reminded me of Attitude and The Connection, two other dark gems worth checking out. Now you may not find The Attic in theaters, but if you like your cinema strong and black, I strongly urge you to check it out on video. You won't be disappointed.
A Clown in Babylon (1999)
Very interesting underground flick.
Killer clowns taking over the world? Not quite. Just Frank Carroll's world. For twenty years He's lived with the guilt of doing nothing while his father, Jingles, was gunned down by two killer clowns. True, he was only nine at the time, but maybe he could have thrown dirt in their eyes, anything to stop them, if only he wasn't so afraid. Now, twenty years later, Frank will settle the score.
