The Hunger (1983)
Extraordinary
Perhaps the first movie to explore the join and pain of being a vampire and, most importantly, what it means to be immortal. Excellent soundtrack, photography and cast. Not the usual vampire film, it's beautiful and philosophical. I'd say it is even better than "Interview with the vampire" (also a great film).
Hiroshima: Out of the Ashes (1990)
A movie to make you think
This film gives a very good description of what it might have been to be in a city a see it being completely destroyed. It shows the anguish of searching for your loved ones and the despair of finding them dead. It's a good movie to show what war should not be like, that is, attacking innocent people instead of having an army versus army battle.
Johnny Got His Gun (1971)
Best war movie ever made
This movie really shows the utter nonsense of war and how it can destroy people's lives. It's a pity that people have forgotten Vietnam, Hiroshima and Nagasaki and still think it's OK to kill people using the excuses of the day.
