SpongeBob SquarePants: Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy/The Inside Job (2009)
Anything but smart.
This episode is one of the stupidest ones the show can come up with, if not the worst. In a cruel act of skewed priorities, the townspeople are more upset at Sandy running around naked than Plankton stealing her pelt, ultimately ignoring the robbery and allowing Plankton to get off scot-free for what he did. Therefore, this whole episode served no purpose other than to humiliate Sandy and paint the townsfolk as incompetent jerks. No doubt about it, Sandy and/or Karen are the only characters to make any sense around this insane asylum. Stay away from this episode at all costs! And that's all I have to say about that.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015)
That had more than a few plot holes!
It's a shame Karen doesn't appear again after the time machine destruction. It's implied that Plankton rebuilt her after this movie's events. On a related note, this is a prequel to the first movie and could be dismissed from canon. The point is, losing Karen could be upsetting, even to Plankton. Well, if it's any consolation, for myself, computer wives never really die. Their information just gets reconfigured. Needless to say, sometimes they come back a little bit wiser for the wear. The dance ending didn't help either. I'll just make "Sponge on the Run" a much saner entry, and pretend this whole thing never happened.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Patrick's Staycation/Walking the Plankton (2011)
The definitive travel episode
In this episode, SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs win a free cruise, while Plankton tries to take the formula again. Only this time, there is a catch: he offers to take Karen on a "second honeymoon." She is thrilled at first, but then get suspicious of what Plankton is up to. It took a "vacation dial" for him to proceed with his hunt without Karen noticing. But that chase didn't last long. Karen, being the anti-heroine that she is, finds out that the cruise was a setup "for his own selfish needs." When she splits the ship in half with her laser, Mr. Krabs ignores the scuffle and lamets his wrecked cruise, probably out of more penny pinching. Both restaurateurs deserved this incident, because Karen earned that outing just as much as SpongeBob did. This is a must see for any thrill seekers.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Barnacle Face/Pet Sitter Pat (2011)
The Ultimate Greed
Mr. Krabs has done selfish things before, but what he has done in this episode was by far the most selfish. He made bar soap out of krabby patty grease, which his own daughter Pearl washed her face with, for his own penny pinching gain. Niether SpongeBob nor Pearl had the nerve to challenge him. Instead, SpongeBob had Pearl cover her barnacles with jewels, and Mr. Krabs desperately went after his loot, as she went to her school dance. He deserved that remark, because no one can support a restaurateur who thinks of nothing but himself. On the plus side, the sister episode, "Pet Sitter Pat," was the polar opposite of this one, fairly sane.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Squirrel Jelly/The String (2018)
Crazy season finale
This season finale has polar opposite segments: "Squirrel Jelly" is action packed, with Sandy wrestling with some jellyfish, and "The String" is stupidly destructive, with SpongeBob pulling an unexplained string and unraveling the whole universe, and then he himself vanishes in Patrick's hands. As Kang and Kodos would say, "Smooth move, sea lax! You've destroyed the totality of existence!" But on the plus side, a few memorable episodes occurred beforehand.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Call the Cops/Surf n' Turf (2018)
Dumb and smart polar opposites
This episode has polar opposite segments: "Call the Cops" is very stupid, with an absent minded cop taking away the secret formula as "evidence," when it was Plankton who was the thief to begin with, and chaos lead everyone astray, especially Patrick. "Surf n' Turf" is much smarter, with Sandy trying to save her treedome from Mr. Krabs, who was greedily stealing her home and sabotaging her ship-in-bottle contest, just to keep the money for himself. Despite being awarded as the only intact item remaining, Sandy makes Krabs repair her home with him wearing electrical restraints. No doubt about it, Sandy makes sense around this insane asylum!
SpongeBob SquarePants: Mustard O' Mine/Shopping List (2018)
Only the first segment is good
This episode has polar opposite segments: "Mustard O' Mine" is funny, "Shopping List" is stupid on a grand scale. What's so stupid about it, you may ask? Mr. Krabs sends SpongeBob on a wild goose chase, just so he could shop for Krabby Patty ingredients without Plankton following him around. Sandy, who went along for the ride, rightfully beats up Krabs up for making them go through those difficulties for nothing, especially at the cost of her tail and submarine, Matilda. Instead of admitting his wrongdoing, Krabs dumbly says that he deserved that, while gliding into the sky. As for Plankton, he puts all the fake ingredients together, while Karen warns him not to add the ghost dandruff. When the fake ingredients explode, he glides into the sky with Krabs, saying a dumb response too. The result is a mindless episode too crazy to care much for. The next time these restaurateurs get the urge to take over someone else's errands for their own buffonish amusement, they should listen to Sandy and/or Karen. Those two "gal pals" are the only characters who make any sense around this insane asylum!
