Excellent Film
20 January 2005
I saw this remake last night and must say that it was an extremely enjoyable two hours right from the get-go. The opening of the story is one of the best I've seen in years, and throughout the acting is solid which wasn't surprising with this cast, but the dialogue was great all the way through, which you don't usually get in films anymore, and the action and building of tension was done very well by the director, his choreographers, and the composers. Top notch performance from Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, and Brian Dennehy. Very solid leading lady turn for Drea DeMatteo, as well as from Maria Bello. And the casting of Gabriel Bryne as the villain is genius although I would have liked to have seen him do a bit more on screen with Hawke and Fishburne. Overall, a solid 9 out of 10 for giving me some things in a film that I'll remember simply because there unexpected and done really well. Go see this film if you like good action filled thrillers, I promise as a filmmaker myself, it won't disappoint.

One of the better Jason chapters
17 July 2004
In my opinion, this is one of the better chapters of the hallowed Friday the 13th series. The opening is awesome with the bringing Jason back to life in the cemetery. Thom Matthews makes a decent upgrade for the Tommy Jarvis character when you think we could have had to witness Corey Feldman fighting off Jason again, which would have made this sequel quite brutal. The camera loved Jennifer Cooke, who was red hot, her father the sheriff in the flick made a good hard ass, and the idiot camp counselors that get slaughtered made the grade for me. We even got to see a more human side of the hockey masked villain when he didn't butcher the room full of kids he was in. How anyone could put this behind Jason in Manhattan, Jason in space, and the paramedic Jason in part 5 is beyond me. Kudos to Jason Lives, definitely a decent Friday to me.

Touched (II) (2003)
An excellent, thought provoking short film.
13 January 2004
I recently watched this film, and was extremely impressed by this based on a true story visualization presented by Mike Lemon. To me, it really showed that life sometimes can defined by a single moment in time when you meet the right person, or that someone special that you may encounter only once in an existence that makes all the difference in you as a person, continuing on with more to strive for. The actors do a solid job in delivering with the portrayal of a gamut of emotions in this story. Bob Bowersox is great as Mike, a confused middle-aged man looking for something more out of life then what it's currently offered. David Duzenski shines as Michael, another lost soul that fines comfort in Bowersox's angelic type character. Overall, a wonderful short film that will warm any heart, regardless of prejudices or preferences, due to it's ability to score with numerous points that many of us should take heed to in our lives, so our days may be a little easier to cope with.
