Meh
15 April 2024
This movie featured a moderately decent storyline, along with an exceptional cast. However it was all let down by the worst shoe-horned plot twist slapped on to the end that I have ever seen in my life (and I have watched a lot of pretty bad whodunnits in my time).

I disagree with other reviews about the quality of the photography, sound and supporting cast. You can tell a lot of heart went into this movie, but, as noted above, the plot twist right at the end felt very much like an afterthought, a way to subvert the expectations on who the real killer was.

Still, I have to give credit to Samuel L Jackson and Vincent Cassel for a great performance with the ending they were given.

The writer was too green for this concept
9 February 2024
Sorry but I felt that the writer of this script was far too 'green' to have written this concept, what with the zero other screenplays to his name at all.

Sadly, like with other recent scifi films in the past 2 years, this felt like the first draft of a very poorly written, poorly plotted, poorly executed pilot for a failed tv series that no one wanted to "publish" anywhere. Which is a shame as, with guidance from seasoned scifi writers, this could have been a very fun story to play with.

I give it two stars--certainly not for the writing, definitely not for the cgi, but entirely for the cast who did a fantastic job with a hot mess of a script that needed a lot more polish than it got.

Not the worst movie - but not the best either

Warning: Spoilers
This film had the potential to be so much more than it was, especially for its length. That said, the cast was great and I really felt for Sullivan throughout. I had to figure something was up when he and Cassidy had that heart-to-heart over the photo she had in her possession.

I feel like the thing that let the plot down the most was the last 20-odd minutes or so. The writer had two hours to sprinkle in teasers as to what was going on, but suddenly we needed a visual info-dump as opposed to it being shown naturally (i.e, through Sullivan narrating a journal article, or having a conversation with the Captain).

So, not the worst movie, but it could have been a lot better if the writer had put in a bit more effort.

I used to love this show
11 February 2023
After years of loyally watching this show, I've given it up because the character dynamics are the same "stories" repeated year after year, episode after episode. If it's not Erin and Anthony fighting, it's Erin and Danny, or Erin and her dad, or Erin and Eddie. And now they're trying to tell us that the relationship Erin herself has admitted is extremely unhealthy and "addictive" (her one with ex Jack) is being pushed as 'true love'? No I'm sorry, that sends such a terrible message to young and older women that they should stay with people who are bad for you!

This show either needs new showrunners, or new writers (or both).

I'll miss the characters, but hey.... when shows go bad, that's what fanfic is for!

Slow, Pointless and Boring
20 August 2022
The trailer for this movie made it seem like it was going to be a thriller, and yet by the end I felt like I had wasted an hour and a half of my time as the movie and its story was boring and the entire movie was slow and pointless.

The premise had promise, but the writer dropped the ball.
