Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)
Disappointment
This movie was a huge disappointment to me. I had been looking forward to seeing it for a while. I am a big Bruce Campbell fan. I wanted to like this movie, but liking it wasn't made very easy for me. Elvis vs. Mummies, what could be more exciting than that. I sat down in the theater and waited in anticipation for the movie to start. I sat and waited a long time, nothing remotely interesting or funny happened. I waited some more thinking, okay so the storyline is lacking good dialogue, forget it. I thought, 'There's probably going to be some killer scenes when the Mummy and Elvis meet face to face.' I was once again let down. The fight at the end was a huge let down. I wasn't expecting a huge blockbuster action packed ending, but I was looking for something a little more interesting, funny, or even longer. I know many people would say, 'You don't get this style of comedy. It is only something us non conventional people get. Blah, blah, blah. I've heard people say stuff like that to me before. They just don't want to face the simple fact that this one movie that they wanted to like so badly, was very lacking.
Flirting (1991)
Usually only known for Nicole Kidman, but so much more!
This is a fantastic coming of age story. Noah Taylor as Danny Embling is brilliant. Thandie Newton and Nicole Kidman also do a wonderful job (Plus both are walking dreams) This movie definitely surpasses The Year My Voice Broke. It makes a giant leap in the quality of the picture and writing. Of course that's not to say that The Year My Voice Broke wasn't also very good, but this sequel adds much more to the tales that are coming of age stories. This movie not only follows up on how Danny Embling is doing, but it also shows a female perspective of growing up. The way Noah Taylor and Thandie Newton react to one another as their characters is exactly the way most of probably wish we could with our own first loves. They are without fear of each other.
Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
fantastic piece of horror cinema
This movie provides everything that has been promised to fans for years. Plenty of action between Freddy and Jason. Many people forget that the creators of both Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th have been making these films for so long that they are just having fun with the movies now. You can tell that they have moved on from making movies with bad acting/ ridiculous scenes, to purposely making movies that have bad acting/ rediculous scenes just to make people laugh about their villains.
Shanghai Noon (2000)
Owen wilson is the man, Jackie Chan not
I very much resisted to see this movie for one reason, Jackie Chan. But I'm glad that i did because I would have missed out on Owen Wilson. He did a superb job, as always. Jackie sucked, but not as much as usual.
