Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
Cute
Definitely a cute movie, however I expected a bigger mystery/thriller setting. Instead this movie is a pure romance drama, both of which you get plenty though.
7/10 solid movie, but Tate was also a dork after all. Not even writing a letter in all those years? Come on, Taters!
Resident Evil (2022)
Definitely not a 3.8
The reviews here were hijacked by a bunch of nostalgia lovers living in the past.
The series itself is more of a 7 quality wise, but the focus has been taken from brainless horror gore to a thriller like format.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Yet Another Star Wars Series
It's good, but mostly because it cost millions of dollars to make. There's Fan services on all corners, and the story is over as fast as it began.
Additionally Leia was really annoying. Cute, yes sure, but they have given her so many truly unbelievable adult sentences that it made my stomach hurt. In the beginning of her story there's this chase where she ducks and slides away in best action style and it just looks so wrong because she is simply too young for such scenes. I don't support this at all.
The story overall was okay, but also nothing new. After the fortnite kids on bikes introducing book of boba another mini series that milks the franchise.
Synchronic (2019)
Interesting idea, shallow story
The idea in the movie is fun at first, but in the end you'll just ask yourself 'is this it?'. There's hardly any depth especially as the climax is just so loose from the rest of the story. I'd say give it a try for the concept, but don't expect much.
Hypnotic (2021)
Not much twist in it
It's entertaining for sure, but there is not really any twist in the movie. Also, all the characters are very underdeveloped, which makes it painful to watch at times.
Las Consecuencias (2021)
So Dark
A strong drama, with a beautiful landscape and setting at all times. It is best to go into this movie blindly, and let it unfold its dark twists as you try not to drown with the well thought through characters. Would definitely re-watch immediately for the setting if the story wasn't so heart breaking.
Speak No Evil (2022)
Great execution, but no twist
You know something is wrong early on in the movie, and you know something is wrong from the trailer. Basically, you watch this family being part of a crime, and that's it. But the fact that nobody stands up and defends themselves in the end makes the movie pointless. Realistic maybe, but boring for the viewer.
Basically this movie just makes you part of a crime, and that's it. The way to there is less horror and more dark comedy with the creepy guy doing creepy things like the mandatory peeping and also brushing his teeth in a menacingly way. It's hilarious until the end puts us to the eighty minutes long suspicion of yes the creep is also a criminal.
Technically, the movie is fine and well acted out, even if the music is a little off in the start.
Thinking of it, the movie is also a big xenophobic piece, so only three except of four stars four that.
