Pearl Harbor (2001)
One of my all time favorite movies.
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** I was a bit skeptical about seeing Pearl Harbor at first. When it was released in theaters i passed it up thinking it was going to be a boring documentary type deal. But after watching it when it was released on DVD, i loved it.its not just a story of the tradgety at Pearl Harbor, but a story of love and the effect of WWII on the different charaters Rafe, Danny, and Evelyn. Not to mention one of the sadest endings i've ever seen.(this and armageddon were the only two movies I cried at the end)
Rafe goes off to Europe to help them fight off Hitler and his Nazis while Evelyn and Danny are stationed at Pearl Harbor. After recieving word Rafe has Died in action, Evelyn and Danny start spending time together and eventually fall in love. This is all turned upside down when Rafe turns up alive and returns to Pearl Harbor to see his love.
All the characters in this movie are played out really well and Ben Affleck gives an unforgetable performance.
The Pearl Harbor attack scenes are done very well, you almost feel as if your at the actuall attack.
I would recommend this movie to anyone I meet.
5 out of 5 stars.
Kissing a Fool (1998)
Great romance movie with awesome characters.
This movie appealed to me for one main reason.I went through almost the same situation with my best friend and now ex-girlfriend.
This movie is set around two best friends Max and Jay.Max is the party type all around ladies man while Jay is an unlucky in love man still sulking over a pat relationship.
I personally think the roles were givin out perfectly.David Schwimmer as the ladies man.Jason Lee as the sensitive man(a drastic change from his usual roles especially in Kevin Smith's movies)and Mili Avital give a sexy performance as the girl wanted by both men.
If you like a good romantic comedy i would say see this.Heck even if your not into romantic comedys still see this movie.
4 out of 5 stars.
Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)
I laughed all the way through.
After seeing this movie, I had a totally different opinion of Mel Brooks. This hilarious adaptaion of Robin Hood had me laughing till the end credits.Cary Elwes gives the perfect performance as robin and all the other characters are cast great as well.A definate recomendation to any one who love to laugh.
5 out of 5 stars.
The Wizard (1989)
A great movie to remind you of being a kid.
I grew up with this movie, and i never get tired of it, even now.Watching it reminds me of the good ol' days as a kid growing up in the 80's. The plot seems a little out of left field but under the right circumstances could probably happen.
Great performances are given by Fred Savage as Corey, Christian Slater as Nick the typical teenage older brother and Beau Bridges as Sam the good hearted father(reminds me alot of my father).
When it gets down to it The Wizard is a great movie for all ages to enjoy.
5 out of 5 stars.
The Princess Bride (1987)
By far one of the best movies ever!
I first saw this movie on a movie channel and i just fell in love with it. It has unforgettable characters such as Westley(Cary Elwes)who does a perfect job as the hero,as well as help from former enemies Inigo(Mandy Patinkin) and Fezzik (Andre the Giant). The acting is great, the story line is fantastic and unforgettable quotes.(Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepeae to die!). I also had the pleasure of reading William Goldmans book in my 10th grade english class which was a real treat.I have not a single bad thing to say about The Princess Bride.I'd tell anyone to see this movie in a heartbeat.Definately 5 out of 5 stars!
Black Hawk Down (2001)
Very great war movie.
Black Hawk Down was one of the best war movies i've seen in a long time. The characters are well played and the war scenes are very realistic as well. This movie obviously was made by some of the same people as "Pearl Harbor" seeing as how many of the same people are in it.Bottom line is this is a great movie and a must see for all fans of war movies.
