Septem8er Tapes (2004)
Misleading
I have to say this is an awful movie, for the mere fact that when you see this movie on the guide, it is listed as a documentary. As I watched it, I started laughing, thinking to myself, does this guy actually expect me to believe this is real? So I had to look it up, and now see that it is a movie, but now since it isn't a documentary, it is now a movie with bad acting. SO, either way, it is pretty bad. I actually didn't make it to the end. I had to shut it off. I am a NYC Police Officer, and felt that someone was trying to mislead people into thinking this is a documentary, with the intentions of making money off of a terrible day for me and my coworkers. So, I took it a little personal. Maybe I was blinded by that, and it isn't as bad as I personally think it is. Everyone has their own opinion.
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
The first 30 mins are brutal
This movie should be listed as "With Subtitles". I believe I am very fair at rating movies, and although there are many great movies with subtitles, I am not one of those people that can watch those movies. If I wanted to read, I would get the book. Right now I am 30 mins into this movie, and I am close to shutting it off. There has been about 5 mins of no subtitles, and Brad Pitt. The rest, so far, are unknowns speaking French and German. BOOOOORING. And, the English speaking parts are also extremely boring. Already I can see a huge chunk of movie that I would eliminate, to shorten this movie, since it is so long. Looks like this is going to be a real long boring movie. I will give it another 10 mins and will shut this off, giving it a 1 rating. Your letting me down Quentin.
Miracle at St. Anna (2008)
Typical Lee movie
Seriously, does this idiot use the same background music for every movie he makes? I don't get how the music from Do the Right Thing, can be played during a war scene?!? A boring, drawn out movie, that your hoping leads to something, and it does. It leads to a typical, Spike Lee, racism lesson. White guy treats black guy like crap, and white guy is the villain. I got it bro. White people owned black people, and treated them like crap, at some point in time. It has been drilled in my head for the last 37 years. And, into the heads of about 50 million white Americans. We gave you a half black president, leave me alone now.
W. (2008)
A movie, not a biography
It is amazing how smart you liberal people think that you are. I found this movie entertaining. That is what movies are for, entertainment. People are on this page commenting on this movie, saying things like, "Stone was fair" and "Stone didn't portray Bush as bad as he could of". What world do you people live in? The only portrayals that were fair, were the ones that he got from fact finding. Every scene in this movie, where there were not actual facts, just personal conversations/events (with Laura or his father, or even Cheney), where Stone could not possibly know the exact conversation, attempted to make W. look like an idiot. That is opinion of a liberal Hollywood director/writer. If you want to say that the scenes which were fact, were fairly portrayed, I will agree. But, unless Dick Cheney, "poppy Bush", Laura, or Barbara gave Olover Stone an interview, don't try to say that Stone fairly portrayed this man throughout this film. Every chance he got, he took. One more thing. To the commenter who described the Bush admin. as the most corrupt in history, please, I beg you, do some research from the late 90's early 2000's on Obama, Emanuel, and the rest of Chicago's politicians. The people who describe this man as a "Lame Duck" President, need to take a look at the "Lame Duck" Congress for the last 8 years. I would love to see a satire on conversations between Pelosi, Frank, Emanuel, Hillary, and some of these other idiots that drove our housing market into the ground. Oh yeah, I did like this movie though, as I said, it entertained me. This MOVIE, not biography, kept me watching, made me laugh, and was interesting. But, it is a movie, not a biography.
Hounddog (2007)
A little disturbing
I am about 45 mins into this movie and have to say, it is not graphic, but the few scenes that are suggestive are disturbing. I had no idea what this movie was about when I put it in, but when the first weird scene came up, I came to IMDb to start reading. I am a 36 year old guy who has no problem with people smoking weed, drinking heavily, etc. i like dark comedy. What I have to say is that the scenes in this movie make me uncomfortable. Almost sick in my stomach, because it leaves it to your imagination what would happen if this were real. I guess that is good directing, but it does kinda cross the line. One thing I do believe this movie does is this....There are def pedophiles out there right now, having their way with their body parts, while watching this movie, and that is the problem with it. I guess Fannings parents had to choose the money and accept what some sick people out there will be thinking, while watching their daughter.
The Final Season (2007)
Not enough time for this story
Even though I found many faults, I still gave this movie an 8. I am fond of inspirational sports movies. The problem with this one is that it needed to be one of those HBO 3 part series, or a season series, like "The Bronx is burning", or something. One minute, this outcast/rebel from Chicago (Mitch)shows up, smoking, asking for weed, stealing his grandpas truck, not getting along with the grandparents, the next min. he is a liked baseball player, pal-ing around with grandpops. They needed to either get more into his character, or just cut it out of the story. They did this with a few characters. One min. Powers Booth's character is fighting in the town hall for his team, and school, the next, he is coaching a different school. Rachel Cooks character. She is all about getting rid of this school, 2 mins later, she wants it to stay. It makes you feel that no one in this town sticks to their convictions. They really needed to show more about each character. Great story though. I had never heard of this movie, and was flicking through channels, and happen to catch the beginning. To me, it was just another boring baseball story, until halfway through, I noticed that it was a true story, and that is what made it much better for me.
This Christmas (2007)
typical boring family movie
They need to stop making holiday movies about typical family problems. They are all the same. One's pregnant, the other is cheating on someone, another is getting back on the cheating one. Son brings home girlfriend/wife that people don't approve of. Step father that kid doesn't like. Annoying possessive mother, someones n the military. blah blah blah, same ole stuff. This is the black version of brothers and sisters, only squeezed into 2 hours. But as long as women keep watching this stuff, they have to keep making it. One last thing. How come the white girl wasn't dancing at the end? They even had the bookies in there dancing. That might of given us the comedy part, that this movie is listed as.
