Let's be real, it's not exactly Shakespeare, but it's fun.
I love Rebel Wilson & I feel like this is a good step for her. Past roles she often went a bit... over the top. This was dialled back a bit for her but also allowed a few more scenes for her to work with, which I liked. She did a good job.
The acting was good from everyone. Especially the actress that played Rebel's younger version but she did have more serious material to work with.
Honestly, Justin Hartley made me laugh more than anyone in this.
The costume & set design were good.
But a couple things made it hard for us to get lost in the movie:
1) Rebel's character's attackers never take any responsibility nor does the school...which is just annoying as a viewer. A pretty big plot hole.
2) Her 'senior year' is month. A month! Why? We couldn't understand that. She's supposed to meet friends, become a cheer leader, popular, learn, & grow, & graduate in just one month?
The should've had her wake up in January or something to give her more time. Easy fix.
I also didn't like the forced woke moments in this too.
The social media was annoying. I know it's a reality now but movies should be careful how much to feature it because it's really annoying to hear someone talk about it. I don't want to watch a movie all about it.
The best friend was fine as a kid but I didn't like the adult version. I could see what they were going for but they made her character go from a smart teenager to a simpleton as an adult. Unnecessary and it just wasn't funny.
This movie had potential but it was just...alright.
But it was a light hearted fun movie. Entertaining.
