Steven Kan's Sharks of the Corn (2021)
A movie that realizes it doesn't need to exist
I don't know what else to say about Sharks of the Corn. It's a movie that realizes it's nothing more than a name and a poster. It's a concept. A FUNNY concept, but still just a concept. It's something you look at on a list of bad shark movies, laugh at and then move on. The creators realized this, which is why they put absolutely no effort into it. It's not a comedy, it's not a horror movie, it's not a monster movie, it's not spoof or satire or anything. It's just 100 minutes of stuff happening and then it ends. I'm pretty sure half the dialogue is improvised, half of the scenes are made up on the spot and the entire script was written in half a day. It's a movie that realizes that nobody expects anything from it and so it offers you nothing in return.
I was tempted to give it 2 stars just for the last five minutes, which managed to be so completely, irreverently stupid that it was almost charming. And then the last thirty seconds of the movie ruined that. 1/10.
