Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them (2024)
Could've been so much better
We already know the story. We've seen the 97 movie. We've seen the Netflix miniseries. And if yourenold enough you likely saw the tabloid magazines when you went out shopping baxk in 95. So this doc: The only thing I didnt know was the whole but about the actual "proof" of the supposed embezzlement. Apparently there wasn't any according to this documentary. And the whole business with Yolandas family and those "secret love letters" and the note about her being attacked.... . (Insert rolling eye emoji)....surely all forgeries.
Just read Joe Nick Patoskis book and Chris Perez's book and you're good. Forget this documentary.
Quicksand (2023)
Skip it
Lame movie. The acting for the most part is tolerable but once again you have characters that don't use their noodle. First off the couple didn't bring a cellphone (it might not have worked, but who knows if you don't have it with you to at least try) the husband didn't even bother to take off his jacket and use that as a rudimentary rope to save the wife, they claim that it was so difficult to move their arms yet they managed to take the dead mans pack off, and if it's so difficult to move your arms inside the muck WHY are they constantly putting their arms back into the quicksand?? Keep them out! Several aerial shots you can see that they really could have gotten out of they would've tried. The pool of quicksand wasn't large at all. And don't get me started on the snake lasso. Ok Pecos Bill 🙄 or I suppose in her case Slue Foot Sue (in case no one gets the reference: in American folklore, Pecos Bill lassoes a tornado by using a snake. Slue Foot Sue was his wife.)
Tenderness (2009)
Stick to the novel by the late great Robert Cormier
I do t know I owe why they can't make good movies from Cormiers works. The Bumblebee Flies Anyway, The Chocolate War and now this. Abominations. And why the need to change the characters names? The story is literally right there I. Front of you, copy it. Bingo. There you have it. A no el in visual form. But no these idiot Hollywood screenwriters always have to change stuff just for the sake of changing stuff. Pass on the movie Tenderness and just read the book. Far better indeed.
