The Three Stooges (2012)
This movie introduced me to the original Three Stooges, and I love it for that
Peter Farrelly said that he wanted to introduce The Three Stooges to younger generations. In that regard I believe he succeeded (at least for me). This movie made me love the trio and made me want to watch what the movie was based on. I love the original shorts the feature Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard (and later on Shemp). If it weren't for this movie, I don't think I ever would have found a likening for the original group. I think the production crew for attempting to replicate it as best as possible. However, even I can admit this movie is flawed. There are some pop culture references that haven't aged well and the pacing is way more discombobulated than I remembered. Even though it's not perfect, I will still hold a place in my heart for it.
Pixels (2015)
Guilty Pleasure
I know. It's not that funny. Aside from a few moments, there really weren't too many times I laughed at. However, the concept of this movie is too enjoyable for me to hate on it. I saw this in theaters when it first came out and have seen several times since then. The visuals are also not bad for a movie that always gats labeled as being one of the worst of all time. The idea for this movie was there, but it did not hit the nail on the nail on the head. Yes, some of the characters are annoying. Yes, it is not as funny as it thinks it is. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone, but I still have a great time each time I rewatch this flick.
Lost City Raiders (2008)
Bad. Just Bad.
It's honestly confusing how bad this movie is. There are so many moments that made me think "Why did they think that was a good idea?". The only positive things I have to say is that the locations being used didn't look terrible and I personally don't think the acting was as bad as some of the other reviews say (don't get me wrong the acting was still not anything special). As for the bad stuff, pretty much everything else. The writing was terrible. The pacing was awful since the story was all over the place. The editing was bizarre. They randomly had shots in slow motion for no reason and the camera work felt sloppy. The most hilarious thing about this movie is that apparently it was supposed to serve as a pilot to a TV show. This means that if the movie was successful, then A TV would have been launched. Since the aforementioned TV show has never seen the light of day, you can only imagine how the network felt about this movie.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
I'm definitely going to watch this again!
I saw this while I was on an airplane the other day and I loved it! There is so much to appreciate about it that I am not sure where to start. The visuals were incredible. The colors popped in every scene and were a lot of fun to look at. I heard they a lot of the effects were completed by only a few people who learned how to do them over zoom during this pandemic. It's so impressive. Not only was it fun visually, but it was also funny! I laughed so many times during it I will probably laugh again when I rewatch it. The performances were also fantastic with the standout being Ke Huy Quan. It's awesome to see him in a production such as this again and I hope he will appear in more films in the future. This is my favorite movie of 2022 so far and I think everyone should watch it if they are able to.
The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975)
Not that great
I saw this movie in parts when I was a kid, but I never got around to watching the whole thing until fairly recently. Overall, it's not that good in my opinion. It's not atrociously bad, but I didn't find it all that entertaining. It wasn't that funny, and the story wasn't exactly interesting enough to make up for it. Don Knots and Tim Conway were definitely the best aspect of the whole movie. If there were any parts I laughed at, it was because their chemistry was charming enough to get a chuckle out of me. I can understand why people would enjoy this as much as they do. It's an innocent enough flick to pass some time and I can see it being a childhood favorite for others. For me, it just didn't click.
