Straw Dogs (2011)
Offensive to both Westerners and Southerners
When Deliverance was released in the early 70's there were still many parts of the South where you could find yourself in trouble if you were an outsider. It's an honest statement to say that much has changed in the last 40 years. Every stereotype that could be pulled out for this piece of trash film was pushed at such a pace that I was still trying to process the previous one before the next one came. In the end I had nothing but vile contempt for Amy Sumner and I didn't see any amount marriage counseling that would keep David from getting as far away from this psychotic disaster as possible. Then, I didn't find David to be the sharpest tool in the shed either. There are certain elements to many movies where the audience finds themselves questioning the common sense of the script. In Straw Dogs, you will be doing this throughout the whole film.
Ghost World (2001)
Painfully Pointless
You just keep watching and it goes nowhere. A flaky teen screws with all of the lives around her and then leaves town. The End. I had so hoped, by the title, that in the end I would learn that they were all dead. That the creepy girl in the wheel chair had actually killed all of them in a terrible car accident and this was their departing souls trying to cope with the loss of life. Sadly......no such luck. There is nothing in this film that isn't annoying. Enid's relationships with everyone just leaves the viewer in a state of not caring and whole thing with Seymour was nothing less than creepy. At least in the end he came to grips with his creepiness. However, I would have preferred that he flipped out and took a rusty ax to the squishy brains of the worthless teenagers and art teachers that plague this film.
Bionic Woman (2007)
What a waste!
This show has no direction...it was over before it started. After giving the first two episodes a chance, this show is just plain BAD! Characters, writing, pacing, special effects all bad. "THE" Jamie Sommers was going to nail some strange guy in the men's room...this scene sums up just how bad and desperate the writers for this show are. Of course, maybe the show would have been more interesting if she had contracted a social disease fused with Bionics. The character development is so weak that I just don't care for anyone on this show. I didn't care who Jamie Sommers was before the accident, I didn't care when she was in the accident, and I think she is pretty creepy in the hero role.
This soon to be short lived series will put the tomb stone on Bionic anything for some time to come....thanks NBC.
