I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007)
Just shows how desperate Adam Sandler is for a gig
This movie is so utterly ridiculous i can't describe in words, but i'll try.
The concept is so stupid and unbelievable.
I don't know what possessed Jessica Biel to sign up for this movie, as she is a respectable actress and was in some good movies (The Illusionist) and she was gaining credibility until this. She lacked any emotions, tied to one for the entire movie.
Adam Sandler was at his usual. Meaning, unfunny and always full of himself.
There were a few funny bits, but that couldn't make up for the idiotic complex and overuse of the gay idea.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Please let there be a 4th
7/10 stars for me is bad for a Spiderman movie. I would give the 1st and 2nd ones 8 and 9 stars. Don't get me wrong this is a good movie by itself. But compared to the previous installments, it just doesn't have that extra something that made the other ones great. Maybe it was too much talking not enough action. Adding some drama is great, especially when the drama is backstabbing and betrayal, but there wasn't a great action scene. The first had the great Parade and bridge scene, the second had the train scene, the bank scene (which still gives me chills seeing an old woman falling off a building only to be saved seconds before) and the final dock scene. Compared to these, the Harry vs. Peter scene and the construction sight just don't cut it. And just like the second, there is a scene of awkward walking and facial expressions that is just unbearable. This is a good movie no doubt, but it leaves us dangling for a 4th installment.
Full House (1987)
Most Annoying show on television
This show is just annoying!!! I feel sorry for the actors for having to attempt to be funny (especially Bob Saget), the laugh track tries to cover up the sad jokes and the "Awwww" track comes up at the most unnecessary times. The over-dramatic kids are no exception, especially the Olsen twins. Also, this show is cliché city. If you were to look up the word cliché, it would read "Full House" Every story line has a "life lesson" to be learned at the end. A sappy speech makes everything better and even has the ability to make the most bratty child have a sudden realization of goodness GASP too bad this couldn't be possible in real life. I don't know how someone could watch this show without bad mouthing the behavior of the characters or the laugh track. i find myself yelling at the TV saying, "THAT Isn't FUNNY/SAD/CUTE" If life were really like this, the world would fall apart.
American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (2002)
This show is corrupt, overdone and unnecessary
I hate this show with a passion. At first it was a good idea and picked a good singer. When saying there was going to be another one, i though "Ok i guess America could have *2* idols..." but when Rubin won, i knew this was a corrupt show that only cares about image. I was so happy when people began voting for the worst. This show deserves it. And the judges have no purpose if the show is "determined" by America. Randy's "yo yo yo" is just old and annoying, Paula as the "nice one" is quickly becoming annoying, Simons sarcastic British comments are becoming overly done and Ryan Seacrest is possibly *the* most annoying host on television. He is so full of himself and has no place in the show. People should know by now that the show is corrupt and that "America" can't vote for their life.
The Invisible (2007)
It had such potential...
When seeing the trailer for this movie i thought "hey this is something new" so i went opening weekend for my birthday. turns out it was a complete waste of time. The trailer was misleading, and contained important information that wasn't in the movie. After the first 20 minutes you realize that it's a completely different movie and has no plot what so ever. When the boy finds out no one can see him, he begins going insane and it doesn't affect the world around him. This was a nice touch, but after the 10th attempt at throwing say a chair out a window, we say to ourself "ok we get it, no one can see him, can we move on?" I also found some acting (esp. Marcia Gay Harden) to be horrendous. I feel that this movie had a good concept, but was horribly executed. Bad bad. The trailer showed a completely different movie than the one i was seeing. i was also upset with the ending. i felt it was incomplete and had a feeling of "What now?" This movie is an example of the lack of original ideas being well done.
Cars (2006)
Am i the only one disappointed?
OK, for months this movie was super hyped, it did great at the box office, more than doubling its budget here and got stellar ratings. Am i the only one disappointed by it? Guess so This is a kids picture so i guess its not aimed at my demographic (But I'm 16!!? is there such a difference??) The movie is filled with toilet humor by Larry the Cable Guy, but it gets old after a while. Its cliché driven, something kids don't notice but adults should be able to point out by now. And it follows the whole, "I learned an important life lesson" by the end of the movie. Sorry Pixar, i just didn't like it. I hope Ratatouille doesn't follow the same formula, but in my opinion it looks exactly the same.
300 (2006)
Not for everyone.
OK I didn't realize what happened in real history (although I'm Greek) so being mad at the ending was just my lack of common sense. Otherwise this is a good film. I had to nitpick at some of the dialogue, which seemed like it contained words from out time ("We're in for a wild night" just doesn't fit in for some reason) There is constant fighting and gore, which for some can get tiring. Special affects were amazing, and I'm shocked this movie only cost $65 million dollars to make. Although everyone else in my group was disappointed (except one of my friends who went only to stare at Gerard Butler), I was just upset with the ending and i would be fine with watching it again. It's not a film for everyone, some may find its simple minded or overly exaggerated, but I found it entertaining.
Disturbia (2007)
Best teen scare movie in a while
This film is aimed right at my demographic (16 year old) so I thought it was great. I went in a group of 5 on opening night in a theater packed with teens just like me. I was skeptical due to the genre and Shia Leobouf, who i didn't like in Holes. The movie starts right away and keeps you in right to the end. This movie relies on suspense and the suspense sticks around until the awesome climax of the last 20 minutes of the movie. In a theater of jumpy teenagers, the last 20 minutes caused everyone to scream at every little shock, which were genuine, not cheesy. This movie didn't rely on gore, which is good because i'm not good with gore. Although there were a few clichés (the thunder & lightning at the climax, Why don't people call the cops BEFORE going into a persons house) the rest of the movie overcame them and it isn't surprising that this movie was a hit at the box office. I liked it so much that i got my sister to see it again with me so i could prove how good it was. 9/10
