Vanity Fair (2004)
A fantastic film despite what others say
6 September 2004
After seeing Vanity Fair, I must say that I was extremely impressed with Reese Witherspoon and the rest of the cast and I thought it was altogether an extremely well-made film. Having the unquenchable faith in the rest of the human race that I do, I naturally assumed that the movie was so obviously brilliant that even the lowest of moviegoers would have to agree with me. After reading some of the reviews on this site, I was severely disappointed to learn that merely because Reese Witherspoon has played a fair number of sweet, innocent, naive and "bubbly" ingenues in the past, some viewers seem to believe that such roles are the only ones she can play.

All I have to say to such individuals is that if their narrow-minded opinion of what Miss Witherspoon can or can't do was challenged by this movie, it's their own fault. To the rest of the world, "Vanity Fair" in this viewer's humble opinion is well worth seeing. Reese Witherspoon is fascinating as Becky Sharp and the rest of the cast is captivating as well. Do not let anyone discourage you from seeing this movie. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

Evita (1996)
A Brilliant Musical
8 November 2003
All right, I just have to say that this movie is one of the most brilliant I have ever seen. The songs, of course, are gorgeous, seeing as they're written by Andrew Lloyd Webber (a genius, in my opinion). And, anyway, who knew Madonna could act? Heck, who knew Antonio Banderas could SING? (And well, I might add.) The whole cast, in fact, did a marvelous job of pulling this off. I was very afraid before I saw this movie for various reasons. But I must say that seeing the film dispelled all those fears. I don't think I could improve the film in any way. Oh, yes, and as for the movie's, uh, discreditors, I really have no idea whatsoever what the heck they are talking about. A really long music video? Please, who came up with that one? Some people just have no appreciation for good musical theatre. In the words of Eva Duarte de Peron: "It doesn't matter what those morons say..." -Moondust_Hermione

really really really good movie

Oooooooh, I loved this movie. Quite true to Andersen's life. Kieran Brew (Hans) captured his innocent, sensitive personality just perfectly. Emily Hamilton as Jette was also fantastic. Good integration of his tales into the plot, that was a good addition. I loooooved this movie!
