Justice League: Warworld (2023)
Finally some connection!
Like all other movies within this particular DC animated universe there's been minimal connection between the movies until now. In my opinion I heavily appreciate how the writers are taking older storylines and twisting them in new directions to give comic book fans something nee primarily the Green Lantern movie which was extremely hated on but introduced one of my favorite plots into the small screen in a very entertaining way; furthermore, one of my personal issues with this universe was how War War II, Legion of Superheroes, and War World were all made out to be very stand alone stories until the endings with very minimal connection towards the present timeline. However (spoiler alert) within the last 10 minutes of this movie everything finally tied together to make sense setting up which is likely to be the last installment of this universe most likely due to the close minded terrible review bombing these movies have gotten. Fans want a bigger connected universes, but also want stand alone films, fans want the same old stories on the small screen or something entirely new, but will hate on anything that tries to make a balance out of it. Blah blah blah. There's no pleasing everybody especially the most ironic fans in the world. Back to War World (another spoiler alert) which is a fun blend of multiple comic storylines that is ultimately entertaining to the end. My biggest problem with this film is that Jonah Hex was made to be a villain (even though it was revealed to be a suffering multiverse clone). Another stand alone movie telling a multitude of stories in a small timeframe that is only connected to the others by the last 10 minutes. I'm excited for the last movie that finally brings everything together. Don't take to these reviews seriously as this DC animated universe may not be like the previous ones but if you appreciate when writers take a blend of old and new ideas I think it'll be entertaining to any die hard DC fan aching for exciting new content.
Black Cop (2017)
Entertaining & Eye Opening
Black Cop is an extremely intriguing satire that pokes at the thought of what if a black cop stooped down to the lowest level of terrible white cops in today's world. The opening scene provokes the audience in a disturbingly ominous way and manages to keep us engaged throughout the entire movie with Black Cop's narration, unique camera angles, and poetic messaging. Lead actor Ronnie Rowe carries this movie with his extreme range including multiple deeply tense moments to very brief but excellent comedic timing. You want to root for the character Black Cop especially at first but quickly are able to piece together that there's flaws in this character that keep the audience on edge throughout eager to learn more. I warn that Black Cop is not an easy watch as there's so many themes beyond racism being explored that are extremely hard to talk about, and this movie addresses them straight up with zero to little sugar coating. As a white person I feel this movie offers some greater perspective on how most black people might feel when dealing with unkind police officers especially before the existence of personalized cameras that are able to upload videos to the internet with the click of a button. I (hopefully) will never experience directly being on the wrong side of a bad policeman. You'll be left wanting more resolution to the character and his story. Lastly the music is overly hated on in these reviews the lyrics greatly contribute to what is happening on screen at the time. Worth the time if you're willing to open your mind.
Regular Show (2010)
4 In The Am Pm
Grew up watching this with my 2 brothers, my father as we couldn't get enough of this cartoon from early on to mid-season especially. Time to time fans see, hear, or even taste things from this show in real life, meaning that whenever I see a wild blue jay I picture Mordecai! Whenever I hear the brilliant voice acting of Mark Hamill I am reminiscent of his many performances of Skips! Whenever I taste scrambled eggs I am sent back to the Eggscellent Challenge! There's an amazing amount of talent, creativity, and hard work put into each and every episode. You'll never have a clear idea of where the over arching story is headed next but you honestly don't care especially if you watch episodes of this with your kids when there's nothing else to do it's always an extremely fun time filled with a ton of laughs which I intend to recreate some day with my kids.
