The Mist (2007)
Painfully stupid movie
Gigantic insects flying onto the windows? Let's turn on as many lights as possible. Walking into a creature-laden mist-filled parking lot? Good time to yell people names and honk your horn, right? One after another of idiotic choices in a horror film. It felt like a long Geico commercial, but not as funny.
I'll admit I'm not a big fan of horror movies, so maybe I'm biased and have just forgotten how stupid they can be. I got suckered into this move by a rating of seven or more stars. Seriously?
I suppose the acting could have been a little worse. There were some relatively decent actors and the last 10 minutes were a extra gruesome, so I gave it two instead of one star.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
A good choice if you aren't looking for entertainment
The plodding storyline ("story" is a stretch) and irritating music score combined to make this one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. About as entertaining as watching ice cubes melt.
Retrocausality (2019)
Not entertaining
I tried to keep an open mind, but I regret watching it. The scene with a mother telling a story to her son was touching; otherwise, the movie narrator sums it up best when he says "It's not worth it."
Allan the Dog (2020)
The world needs movies like Allan the Dog
Allan is hilarious, Sam Daly and Alison Haislip are great in their roles, and it's a sweet story that doesn't take itself too seriously. In a world full of stressors, it's great to see movies like this coming out. Relax and have some fun with this movie!
