Family Guy: The Munchurian Candidate (2022)
Family Guy still has it!
The Season 21 episodes before this one had some laughs, but 'The Munchurian Candidate' really proved to me that after all those years Family Guy still can make great episodes! While the two storylines weren't complicated by any matter, the episode kept on delivering funny moments. And I think that's what Family Guy is really about!
What I like about Family Guy is that there is so much diversity. You've got the more serious episodes with still some laughs and then you've got the 'simple storyline laugh out loud episodes' like TMC. After seeing this episode I have faith that as far as comedy concerns, they're on the right path!
That '90s Show (2023)
Better than expected
I heard That 90's show was coming to Netflix and honestly my thought was let's watch one episode just for fun (because the trailer didn't make me really excited). Turns out, I'm glad I made that decision to watch the show!
Why?
Firstly, the main cast is way more involved than I first thought. And the best is, they're as good as they were in That 70's Show. Especially Kitty and Red, they're still sharp in their acting game!
Secondly, the new cast is not bad. Don't expect any smart and well thought out storylines but hey, at least they're fun to watch! It is when they're together with their group when they're at their best.
Honestly I am really happy how this show managed to keep me interesting. It's really easy to mess things up in a sequel, but they didn't. Not saying this is as good as That 70's Show, but it is definetely worth watching!
Surviving Christmas (2004)
Why is this movie rated so low?
I remember watching this movie a few years ago and finding it pretty funny. Yesterday I've watched it again and thinking this movie must have an IMDb score of at least 6. Nope, 5.4.. Maybe I thought it was better than it really was? No way! It was just as good as I could remember it! I honestly don't get why this movie gets such a low rating... Based on the low rating I would probably skip this one. I'm glad I remember it to be a good movie!
Although the main character (played by Ben) is okay, what really makes the movie is the side characters (especially the family). There were some really funny laugh out loud moments!
What I also appreciate is that they kept in the little details throughout the movie. For example the creaking stair step. If you pay close attention you can hear the creak every time someone walks down the stairs. To me it shows that the director payed close attention to the movie and such details make it more real, instead of mention it one time and then forgetting about it.
My definite score is a 7.5, because to me the main character wasn't as convincing as the rest of the cast. But since you can't give half points here I round it to an 8. Because to me this movie hits closer to an 8 then a 7. If you still have doubts, I'd say just give it a try!
