Astonishing Thriller
2 March 2021
This one is a mind bender. And certainly a sleeper. I never heard of it until yesterday.

I was watching an episode of I Dream of Jeannie, and Judy Hockley was in it. So I checked her name on IMDb and she had only one other role in her career. That of the airline stewardess in Seconds.

That's how I found out about it! Just amazing!!

But I loved this movie. And I am not a thriller genre fan, but this movie had some meaning.

Loved the black and white cinematography and editing. The script was good, and Rock Hudson is off the charts! I never knew he was so good!

Will Geer was also excellent.

Turn our the lights, put on some candles, and be ready to be freaked. Great soundtrack as well!

Thank you Judy Hockley for having me find this flick!

Comedy Classic from 1963, with all the Stars
29 June 2011
I watched this movie again after about a 15 year hiatus, and it still holds its own. Yes...it is a bit long winded in some spots, but the actors and the comedy in the movie make it all worth it.

Jonathan Winters is a riot. Ethel Merman is wonderful. Dick Shawn who plays her son is crazy. Milton Berle, more subdued in this film, plays his role very well. Sid Caesar was at the very top of his game. Mickey Rooney and Buddy Hackett are outstanding as well.

It is interesting, because with todays technology, a movie premise like this would never work. Just use a cell phone or navigation system, and the chase would not be necessary.

I introduced this movie to my younger one, who is 10, and doesn't know any of these actors. This is the TRUE test if the movie can hold it s own over the course of time.

Well....he was laughing. So, if you need a break, and want to see an excellent comedy, try this out. You will enjoy it.

The Wanderers (1979)

The Hidden Gem of 1979 - A True Classic
20 July 2007
This movie is special. It has a great flow, a great story, and captures the essence of the early 60's in NY as the times change. The acting is spontaneous, and the music has to be one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard in a movie. Not just because the songs are good, but how they help tell the story. They come in at the right time, and give goosebumps throughout.

Two of the best scenes in the movie ---- absolute chills down the spine ---- when the women are crying on the street for Kennedy, and the song "Stand By Me" (Ben E. King), provides an indication that there is a shift at that moment in culture. The Wanderers days are numbered. The other scene is the poker game with the girls. Ken Wahl and Karen Allen are priceless, and the song "Baby it's you" is unbelievable.

If you like a little history, some classic songs, and a really good story, mixed with good writing and great acting, this movie is a absolute must see. A Classic. One of my favorite movies of all time.
