Absolutely loved this.

Actually... cgvsluis has said everything I wanted to say, and more eloquently than I might have, though I had to give it one more star.

Kate Phillips was fabulous. But so were everyone else. It was intelligently written, wonderfully acted, plot points weren't telegraphed. I came close to bingeing the whole of the first season. I do hope, that Foxtel will put up the next season soon. Do read cgvsluis's review. The detail of everything I liked about the first season is there. My only lament is it was over too soon. It seemed fitting that the season finished with Eliza and William going off to dinner.

The Plot to Kill My Mother (2023 TV Movie)

The 1s are right

Warning: Spoilers
What got me in was that it was based on a true story. Really? How much basis? 1%?

This movie failed on every level.

Aren't you supposed to like the main character, or somehow identify with her?

If so, that was strike one.

Then the mother goes off after 21 years to visit her sick mother in hospital.

Why wouldn't you accept help from your witness protection minders to enter the hospital covertly?

That's strike two ... but then again, she had to be murdered to set up the movie.

Then the daughter phones up an old friend of her mother's... and the witness protection guy doesn't check the friend out??? That's strike three. I should have checked the reviews at this point ... but we'd already abandoned another movie that unnecessarily had f words in every sentence. This one gets 1 because at least it didn't do that.

How did the evil people find where the mother and daughter had been living for 21 years, and hence vandalise their home? I don't recall there being answer to that.

I've stopped at strike three, but ... one gets struck out at least twice more persisting until the end of the movie.

First season good ... second season superb

If I'd only watched the first season, I'd have given it 8. All the reviews giving 7 or over, had something worthy to say. So read them. You really do need to watch Season 1. It provides necessary background for Season 2. Those who rated it less, simply didn't have the patience to watch series like this. The acting truly was exceptional, but it was Magdalena Rozczka's portrayal of Jass that made it for me. The last episode of Season 2, tied off many unanswered questions, beautifully. The last scene was particularly good. I do hope there's another season. I want to see what happens to the characters next. Does Witek finally discover what happened to Elsa Koepke? And Jass please don't go back to Warsaw.

Slow burn

Writing my review, there was only one other user review and I didn't give it much of a go, and wasn't paying much attention... but then it just kept getting better and better. It just warms your heart if you watch to the end. You need to do that. The actors who play the jilted husband, Luna the at-first crazy new shop assistant, and the nurse who becomes more significant, are very good. The key for a movie such as this is that you need to care about the characters, and I guess that was my problem at the beginning, I didn't care to much about them, but if you bear with it, you will care, and it will make your evening.
