Fender Bender (2016)
Great B-movie
I love independent horror movies and b-movies. I've seen good ones and some very bad ones, and this was good. There were definitely some 'stupid horror movie character' moments though. She was surprisingly calm and unconcerned that somebody took naked pictures of her while she showered, and there were moments when she still had her phone and knew something was wrong, but still didn't call the police. Someone mentioned she had access to the killer's car near the end, no she didn't. The cigarette lighter on those old cars works without the key. Anyway, fun movie, and surprisingly well written. Worth a watch!
De poel (2014)
Deeply unsettling, great watch
Wow, I was not expecting this movie to be this good! Didn't waste any time, it went from a happy family on a camping trip to a deeply unsettling situation very quickly. The more the movie plays out, the scarier and more twisted things get. I believe this is the first Dutch horror movie I've ever seen, but I will be setting out to find some more after this one. I was a little surprised how willing everyone was to jump into a scummy pond, maybe there are fewer snakes and spiders and algae in Holland? Lol. I almost vomited after seeing the woman's head wound...but give it a watch, you won't be sorry!
Capps Crossing (2017)
Good forest scenery! Not much else
I'm someone who loves browsing Prime for indie horror movies. Some are hits, others are misses, and this is a miss. The acting is terrible as others have mentioned, however, I will say the villain really gave me the creeps. Not a big scary guy, just a creepy two faced incel/fake nice guy type. But I never understood what his motive for killing people was... because his girlfriend died accidentally? Didn't make sense. I don't totally regret watching it, if you're bored, it's only 86 minutes. There is no nudity or sex. They had the opportunity to show the girls in bikinis and didn't even take it... When your movie is this bad, a little skin never hurts.
Deadware (2021)
Some great jump scares
Yes, there is some slang that definitely wasn't used in 1999 when the movie is set. And yes, the Internet connection is too fast. All of us who lived through that time will notice that... But it's a good movie. The game (HoH) is very time-period accurate. Some may find the opening dialogue awkward, but it reminds me of catching up with an old friend. So in that way, it's very organic. I would highly recommend this movie for anyone who likes indie films. It has the same feel as Unfriended where the entire movie takes place on a computer screen, and the more things play out, the more secrets are revealed. Give it a watch!
The Final (2010)
Just not that good
Let me begin by saying I am someone who enjoys low budget indie horror films. However, this movie just didn't cut it for me. I thought the acting was atrocious (how are some saying it was good?!) especially the teenage girls. Cool premise, kids at school getting revenge on those who picked on them, but at the end of the movie I just didn't think it was very scary. I ended up fast forwarding to the end just to see how it ended which I never do. It does have an interesting ending though. If you liked saw, you might enjoy this movie. However, I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a fun/scary horror movie.
