The series deals with a secret organization that programs its 'agents' to fit particular clandestine assignments, through a somewhat murky process of a computer interface. In the opener Character Echo (Eliza Dushchu) opens as a motorcycle street racer but after "her treatment" becomes a prim and uptight hostage negotiator, complete with all the flaws (near-sightedness & asthma) as well as the memories of the original real person that was imprinted on her. This causes serious problems during the hostage exchange when it is revealed that one of the kidnappers is the same man that had kidnapped and raped her imprinted persona at a young age. What bothers me is that while the series is visually adept, I find myself not particularly caring about the outcome of the base person. This was briefly run through initially but lacks depth. I suspect that we will learn more of Echo's past in subsequent episodes, and I hope that I will eventually feel some empathy, but right now, I don't really care.

A fair snap shot of the 70's

Having watched the pilot last night, I think it was a fairly accurate depiction of how some lived in the pre AIDS-war on drugs-political correctness era. Bruce and Susan Miller are a reasonably happy married couple with 2 teenage kids. Moving to a more affluent neighborhood, that are quickly greeted by Tom and Trina Decker who live across the street and invite the Millers to a party the next night (July 4th 1976) Arriving at the party with their former neighbors, Robert and Janet Thomson in tow, they come to realize that Tom and Trina are dedicated to the swinging lifestyle. Having walked into a room where an orgy was going on, Janet (who really needs to lighten up)gets in a huff about it and insists on leaving. Conversally Bruce and Susan are curious and elect to stay. Parents take note: Although there is nothing graphic here, it is network TV after all, this is not for kids. Aside from the sex, drug use is rampant. It might be good discussion material for an older teen but IMO not younger than 16 at least. Good score of vintage music. Didn't notice any out of time props(Like Mad Men). Costumes appropriate to the time. Some rough edges in storyline execution, but worth checking out. Just as not everyone was into swinging, this show's not everyones' cup of tea I'm sure, but I enjoyed it.

Just saw this at Capri drive-in Coldwater MI on 5/17/08 as first billing with 'Iron Man' which was what we really wanted to see. I must say that it was worth sitting through. No surprises in the plot line. Mismatched couple meets by coincidence, get drunk, and rather than a one night stand, being in Vegas-get married. Through a series of implausible circumstances, his winning a $3,000,000 slot machine jackpot, and a nut case judge, they can't get the marriage annulled for 6 months. The antics that they go through to try to get the other to abandon the marriage, so to keep the money for themselves, are chuckle worthy to laugh out loud knee slappers. Some low brow humor, but not bad.

Severe boyhood crush on Gilli/Billie

Man I had such a crush on her. I seem to remember that it came on in my area at the time on Sundays at 11AM. I would get ticked if the minister ran a little long, or my folks wanted to stop and visit after the service. Gilli was so much cooler than the 'dumb girls' that I went to school with. Of course in 1970 I was 9, and she would have been 15, so there you go. She could sing, dance, hang out with the guys and not be obnoxious. Looked up her photo on the fan site and found that she matured to a good looking though not overwhelming beauty. Couldn't find any pictures in between DD times and now though. Thanks for the memories. A 10 for those.
