Bonanza: Walter and the Outlaws (1964)
Delightful Doggie Doings
A humorous episode that has to be in the top ten for any Bonanza buff.
A top notch guest cast, starting with one of thé best character actors of all time, Arthur Hunnicutt.
He was also one of the great scene stealers, just ask Duke Wayne who starred with Arthur in El Doraldo.
Throw in the always good Steve Brodie and James Luisi, and of course the doggie Walter, pair them
with (on his best game)Dan Blocker and Michael Landon, and it's Bobs Your Uncle, cue the
laughter, no laugh track required.
This episode is a sequel to the earlier "Any Friend of Walter's", together they are effectively
a two parter that should be viewed together.
After viewing both you will come to the realization that the Home Alone franchise was, ahem,
"inspired" by the Walter stories. What the heck, in Jersey we'd say they swiped just about
every facet, Culkin's little boy character might just as well have been named Walter.
I'll take the original real deal, Walter and his crew outshine the cinematic imitations,
however admittedly entertaining they are.
