Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Rising Malevolence (2008)
Decent episode
Meh. It's not bad, but it's not great either, it's just okay. The story is decent, it's cool to be introduced to Ahsoka and to see General Grievous again, but I was sometimes a little bored during the scenes where Plo Koon and the clones were stuck in that ship in space, it felt a little repetitive. However, it was really cool to see Grievous and Count Dooku interact with each other (they're really funny sometimes, especially Grievous). So it's an overall decent episode, but could've been much better and a lot of other episodes of the show have been much better later on. I'm just not a big fan of the beginning of this show.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Another masterpiece
I'm gonna say it right now, Two Towers is my least favorite of the Lord of the rings trilogy. But it's still a masterpiece. It has a lot of great action (especially the battle of Helm's deep, which must be in my top 5 movie battles of all time), a lot of very emotional scenes like Gandalf returning, Theoden being free of Saruman and many others. But I think the best thing about the movie is Andy Serkis as Gollum. Gollum is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time and he is played to perfection here. You hate him and are disgusted by him but at the same time fell sorry for him. Overall, weakest of the trilogy, still phenomenal.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Ambush (2008)
Good start.
This is a very solid start to the series (still watching it, so I can't judge it as a whole yet), but it's a good start. I think that my only problem with it is that it's pretty much just a filler episode. Again, it's good, but it doesn't really add anything to the story of the series (except from introducing Ventress). I really like the idea of Ventress challenging Yoda and a few Clones against her droids, I like how Yoda sees all the clones as very different persons, even though they have the same appearance. And I think it's pretty well executed. I just wish it brought a little more to the story of the series.
Batman Returns (1992)
Better than the first one but still not great
I like this one a little better than the original 1989 one but it still has a lot of problems. The story here is much wackier but it's really fun so that's a plus for me, the atmosphere, the vibe, is really good (not the biggest Tim Burton fan but I like the vibe in most of his movies). Michael Keaton is once again really good. Michelle Pfeiffer is great as Catwoman (even though I don't really like her origin character story). But I don't like the character of the Penguin. It's not because of the actor, I've just never been able to connect with this character, even in the comics I read. Overall, a decent enough experience, but still could've been better.
Meg 2: The Trench (2023)
Not a film to be taken seriously
I've seen a lot of people saying this movie has an incoherent plot, and that nothing in it makes sense. It's absolutely true, and that's why it's so good ! It's the type of movie that leans into its ridiculousness and does not try to be great, only to entertain, and this film 100% succeeds. It has countless ridiculous scenes that made everyone in the theater burst out laughing (like the scene where Jonas stops a Meg from eating him with his leg). It's a very dumb film, but it's hella entertaining and if you're just looking for a movie where you can just turn off your brain and have a good time, this is the right one.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
MASTERPIECE!!!
The first Lord of the Rings movie is still one of the greatest movies ever made. I truly think that they could have not done a better movie and adaptation than this. The characters are all great and likable, the story is amazing, the special effects still hold up today (better than most now), the acting is perfect (especially Gandalf). There are a lot of very emotional moments like the fall of Gandalf and Boromir's death(this trilogy is one of the few movies that managed to make me cry a lot). There are also a lot of scary moments like the scene where a Nazgûl is searching our main characters.
Superman II (1980)
Great sequel
After the hit that Superman 1978 was, the expectations were pretty high for the sequel. It could have easily been a disaster. So it almost seems like a miracle that Superman 2 turned out to be this good. I would even say it's better than the original film. Everything the first movie does well is done here better. We have a better villain (General Zod) despite Lex Luthor still being present and being very entertaining. I think the story is a little bit better here and it was already great in the first movie ! So it's a really good sequel to the original and totally deserves to exist. Too bad Superman 3 ended up being bad.
Superman (1978)
A game changer
This movie completely changed the game when it came out. Richard Donner took a genre that most people didn't take seriously and created an all time classic that I think is still very enjoyable. The story is pretty good, Christopher Reeve fits perfectly the role of Superman/Clark and Gene Hackman of Lex Luthor. The effects might be dated, but you have to remember this was 1978, it was fantastic for it's time. Sometimes, it's really cheesy and campy but that's part of it's charm. This is one of the best origin stories ever, one of the best superhero movies ever. Unfortunately, most of the sequels would be very inferior.
Batman (1989)
Has poorly aged.
Look, you have to admit that this movie changed the superhero genre forever. You can't deny that. But is this movie even that great ? In my opinion, no. I think the story is the main problem here. There's not a whole lot going on in this movie. They reveal thet the Joker is the one who killed Batman's parents less than ten minutes after they reveal Batman's parents are dead. Batman has not any character arc. This is much more a Joker movie than a Batman movie. He is the only one that at the end of the film, is not the same that at begining of it. When Batman learns he's the one that killed his parents, he wants to kill him. And that's exactly what he does. No character arc. Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson were great though.
