This could have been so much better.
2 March 2023
I read the book, as I have many Dean Koontz novels, and enjoyed the read. With actors such as Michael Ironside and Corey Haims, I thought I would watch the movie. I never knew it was made such a long time ago. The dialog sucked, the acting sucked, the filming sucked, the staging sucked. The budget must have been extremely small. The monster was hard to see, and when he was seen, it was a stupid ape looking thing. You can buy a cheaper ape costume online. The only thing I can say good about it was reminiscing about the book while watching it. I watched it on YouTube because not even the cheapest of streaming services would take it in my opinion.

Why the bad reviews?
5 January 2023
If a movie stinks, I will say so. But the acting was good, the story was good, and the pacing was good. The special effects were mediocre, but the atmosphere was great. Will it win any awards? I doubt it. But the low rating is not worthy of the movie.

So, to give a 1/10 for such a film, and then turn around and say something good about it? That makes no sense. Why bother even giving a rating with your review? My idea is to watch it yourself and see for yourself.

I did find one scene laughable towards the end. Something to do with height differences and objects that would probably not be the best to have in a house like that. You will see. Or not if you choose not to watch.

If you are looking for G rated animated toys, you need to research more.

This is the story of what Andy saw at the movies. Its premise is quite good, and the execution was good as well. If you didn't care about the characters, you probably don't care about many things. Much of it was very deep. And the message between ego and compassion came through quite well. Research before you take young kids. My six-year-old granddaughter loved it as well but had many questions. Totally underrated by viewers who were expecting another Toy Story.

The Final (I) (2010)

I would have rated a 9/10, except for one detail...

The actions of the bullied students were a bit over the top. I doubt it would have panned out that way in reality. That was only done to add a more horrific story. But despite the nonsensical actions of the group, the story line was terrific. Something to think about before anyone contemplates bullying someone. Due to the news as of late, many people I am sure gave it a lower rating. The movie really doesn't deserve such a low score.

Thank you for the dub!

I have a hard time focusing on a movie and reading subtitles. So dubbed foreign films work well for me. I first thought this would be a Frequency copy (I loved Frequency by the way), but it was a great surprise! A must-see movie!

Watchable

The horror scenes were great. The story was offbeat and interesting. I thought delving into the lives of the characters was a bit much and uncalled for. Still a good watch.

Heartwarming, thrilling, and comedic. Back to the Future meets Time Cop meets Guardians of the Galaxy. Good music, good action, good story line, and good acting. I would recommend this movie to many. We all think of what might happen if we could change the past. Good movie.

Did an enemy of the director pay people to rate this so low?

I'm extremely confused about the rating. This movie is decent enough to watch. Did too many non-horror fans vote? I found it well made. Did you not like the ending? Duh, shock endings are what's great about movies like this. Give it a watch. It is not a disappointment.

This was a well thought out story. You care about the characters and the surprises are phenomenal! The isolation of the island adds to the creepy atmosphere. Definitely one of my favorites this season. I would recommend this series to all horror fans.

Gory mindless entertainment
22 October 2021
If you are looking for a smart thriller... this isn't it. If you can get beyond how dumb the characters are and how easily they set themselves up to be killed then you can enjoy this series. Some of the characters you actually hope get slashed. 2nd season seems to be the most popular but I found it the most stupid. The ending was a bit twisty though. Some really bad set mix ups as well. For instance.... if you are miles in the wilderness wouldn't you try to escape down the road you took to get there instead of the forest? And trees that are in the deep wilderness are not planted in perfect rows. If you try to decifer who the killer is in the beginning episodes.... don't. The writers purposely steer you in the wrong direction. But that's just part of the mindless fun.

Low budget or not you have to watch this! The lead was absolutely perfect! The storyline was great and the flow kept me glowed. If anyone rated this movie low I would not trust any other of their movie reviews.

I didn't expect much but tried it anyway.

The rating on here was not that good on average. But I.have learned that the average rating on horror films is usually lower than I would have rated it. Not always true but in this case it was rated too low. The film was creepy and kept my attention until the end. And about the end. The end was original but I was expecting.... I don't know... something different. It was a little bit of a let down for me. But still a good watch.

An okay watch

The acting was good. The special effects were good. Even the story line was okay. It was more a Lovecraftian love story than any horror film. I think there should have been much more to it.

Great cinematography. Pretty blasé story line. A little masochistic kinky if you are into that type of thing. I'd say watch it if you are a big Christopher Lee fan or like spooky scenes and weird families.

Worth a watch

Again I don't understand why anyone would rate this low. It was exactly what it said it would be. A quote from the movie is "The suburbs is where all the craziest shit happens." And my neighborhood growing up is no exception. Definitely creepy. The things we find out later... I'm glad I live in the country.

I was expecting better

With Telly Savalas and Elke Sommer... I thought there would be more to it. The beginning comes off creepy. But the rest is a hodgepodge of murder and resurrection that didn't make much sense. I did like the old time Hammerish atmosphere though.

A bit of a mind @$#%

I'm not sure why people rated this so low. I found this film watchable. A little reminiscence of Jacob's Ladder. Most Wendigo movies are pretty bad. This one had good cinematography. The acting was fine. Never tried peyote myself, but I can understand the jest of it. No major special effects, but all in all a decent watch.

Very close match to the illustrations
18 August 2019
I am an avid horror fan and short story writer, and I read this so called children's book to my young son and a friend during a sleep over many years ago. "Harold" scared the crap out of me! We all slept in the same room that night. So I was hoping the movie would hold up to the book. The special effects were excellent; followed the illustrations in the book. The movie involved one story line, so the stories were changed to some extent. I really enjoyed it and recommend it for a good scary time.

I haven't seen such bad acting except for maybe SyFy original movies. I have normally intelligent friends who are suckered into this stupidity, and I just shake my head. How can you believe the two people on the show?

I am personally psychic myself, as are many people are, but only to a certain extent. These people are so unbelievable it's laughable. And the phony facial expressions? If I wasn't so appalled at the idiocy of the entire show, I might watch just for the expressions.

Bottom line: Something so controversial should be more factual and believable. People have a hard enough time understanding the supernatural than to have bumble-heads make up stuff.

Tales from the Crypt: Revenge Is the Nuts (1994)
Season 6, Episode 5
"Revenge is Nuts" falls short of "Blind Alleys"
2 March 2011
This is a remake from the original "Blind Alleys" segment of the movie "Tales from the Crypt." Though the story line is similar, it lacks the nature of realism that the original does. There are sexual overtures that weren't needed or even present in the first, but it must be for the audiences of the 1990's. "Blind Alleys" was about a home for blind men only. The leading actress had clothes that suggested the 1990's, and the whole scenario would not have played out during that time. The entire layout of the facility was unrealistic; from the size of the place and the only exit being through Grunwald's office. And to have four residents in a home for the blind, when the original had many makes it seem like there weren't have enough funds for the casting of the remake.
