Boring crap!
24 December 2008
I am giving "Phenomena" a rating of 3, although I am completely unsure as to why. There really is nothing good about it, and it is very disappointing that whatever company put together the 5-disc Dario Argento collection decided to include this piece of garbage and not "Suspiria." I tried watching it alone at first, and it was boring me to death. Then my friend Jonathan Earvingcrowe Harrington of Worcester came over and tried watching it with me. We got through about the first half of it, then, again, we both became bored to death and decided to watch the much, much better TV show "Square Pegs." Long live Muffy Tepperman and go to hell, "Phenomena."

Totally

This show is great! I bought the DVD of the show about a few months ago and it has seldom left my DVD player since. I really could watch every episode about ten times in a row, and I have a giant crush on Johnny. He's just so great. In fact, every single lead character, with the exception of Marshall, because he sucks, is fantastic! The Devo episode is particularly great because they sing my favorite song of theirs, and the episode basically focuses around Muffy, who is probably my favorite character. This show is fantastic, and if you really think it's terrible, I just don't understand you. Plus, it has inspired me to bring my Waitresses tape out of retirement.

Fantastic
3 November 2008
My ex-boyfriend bought me season three of this show on DVD after I watched a bunch of episodes on Adult Swim. When I was in college, I had this friend, and "Home Movies" was her absolute favorite show, and she would rave about it, as they say, all the time. Now, thank the Lord, I know what all the hubbub was about! It seems everyone on here loves Coach McGuirk the most, but he is my least favorite character; my favorites are Paula, Walter, and Perry. I had a feeling most boneheads would love McGuirk the most. Anyways, this is one of the best shows of all time and now I just need to get the rest of the seasons on DVD. Adult Swim will probably stop airing it eventually.

Fantastic x1000

Really, this is honestly one of the best movies I have ever seen. I cried about twenty minutes into it, and it was stuck in my head for days after seeing it. I have been in love with Molly Shannon for about twelve or so years now, and this is a very serious role for her. At the risk of sounding totally pretentious, her acting is incredible! The last time I can remember thinking of acting being so fantastic was probably Ellen Page in "An American Crime" and/or Laura Dern in "Inland Empire." I hate that John Reilly actor; I think he is terrible. Yet, in this movie, his presence did not bother me really at all because everything else about it was fantastic. Oh yeah, and Laura Dern is a total gem in this movie too.

Prison Break (2005–2017)

it's OK for a "normal people show"
25 March 2008
I am basically giving "Prison Break" an eight rating because I got so ridiculously, insanely hooked on a show that really in many ways is pretty generic. It is actually quite annoying how much I got into this show. The acting by Wentworth Miller is as flat as a board (and now that I think of it, the acting by Dominic Purcell equally is as flat and boardy), but something about guys planning to break out of prison and how intricate the details are and blah blah blah really hooked me. My friends have been making fun of me for liking this show, and I can't blame them. Oh well, I still liked the first season...for now. We'll see about the second.

Twin Peaks (1990–1991)

Possibly best show ever..
8 February 2008
This show was/is incredibly addictive for me. I recently went officially on record stating that "Absolutely Fabulous" was the best show of all time, but now I am thinking that show may actually be the second best show ever, replaced by "Twin Peaks" at number one. I am annoyingly obsessed with many David Lynch projects. Nothing is better than "Inland Empire" but "Twin Peaks" is so incredible in its own way. Sheryl Lee shares the same birthday with me so I feel some sort of affinity with her, but then again Hitler has my birthday too and I share no affinity with him. As a side note, John Waters has my birthday too. Anyways, Sheryl Lee is such a great actress, as is Madchen Amick. My favorite character is probably Laura although you don't really get a chance to see her really until "Fire Walk with Me." Anyways, totally awesome, incredible, inspiring, addictive show.

pretty good
29 January 2008
I love David Lynch, so of course I was so excited when I got this. As much as I thought it was decently OK, I really just think that maybe my expectation of the short films were too high. The worst of the bunch by far is the one about the cowboy and the frenchman. The frenchman is quite attractive though, I must say. Overall, it's pretty dull, but still watchable. My favorite of the group is probably "The Alphabet." It's a total nightmare and very original, creative, and spooky, I do declare. I think probably the only people that would benefit from this DVD are real Lynch fans, like myself. Oh, and "The Grandmother" is really great too.

Absolutely Fabulous (1992–2012)

One of the best TV shows ever.
21 January 2008
I recently purchased the box set of seasons one to three and watched it in entirety in about three days. I used to watch this show obsessively about ten years ago when Comedy Central would air it on Saturday afternoons, at around 4:00PM I believe, and upon viewing the first three seasons all over again, I re-realized that this one of the best TV shows on the entire planet. I have dreams about meeting Jane Horrocks or Bubble, it really does not even matter which one. I will also often rewind specific scenes on my DVD player because to be perfectly honest with you, and totally geeky, I can not stop laughing, mostly at Bubble. Well actually I can't really say mostly at Bubble, because really all the leads are just so awesome and funny. Extremely high recommendation!

Best movie ever
8 January 2008
This is probably the best movie ever made and I am quite frankly freakishly, if you will, in major love with it. I do not really care about "great actresses" or whatever, but Laura Dern is awesome in this movie. I think much of what other people commented on here is so true--this movie I think is impossible to wrap your head around, but it is also really, really fun trying. I suppose I am prejudiced because David Lynch is one of my favorite film makers, and, although I have never really been a Laura Dern fan, I completely am now. Sometimes, to be quite honest with you, I will think of the wonderful Rabbits and scare myself when I am in the dark.

Ed Wood is gggggreat.
12 December 2007
Ed Wood indeed is great, and Plan 9 from Outer Space is indeed strange, amusing, at times slow, and FULL OF PASSION, PEOPLE! And I don't mean the passion of Christ either! Vampira looks stunning and is the most awesome person in the movie. She is just really too cool for anything. She looks a lot like Lily Munster, but Lily Munster is only about 1/4 as totally rad as Vampira. Pretty much I would say anything that you heard about this movie is basically true--there are plenty of gravestones that look as if for example little Amy Carson from TV's feminist kid's show "Cake" whistled at them they would fall over, the acting is really stiff, and the dialogue/writing in general is so ridiculous, it's pretty great. I personally think Ed Wood is a very interesting person. I don't know which I would choose as the "better" movie--this, or Glen or Glenda?

offensive schmossensive

I would give this show a ten out of ten if it was not for the fart jokes. You people are so damn sensitive it is inane! So quick to point out the "racism" of the show and the jokes, yet are also so quick to say ridiculously sexist, pig-headed crap like "well, duh, some of these other shows do these jokes so much better because at least they have hot women." So disgusting. Abortion jokes are great because, really, who takes abortion seriously anyways? At least I'm not a*bore*son. I hear that Reba McEntire and Sarah Silverman are teaming up to do a movie about sisters taking a road trip together. Talk about a movie of the year!

anyone who thinks the remake of this movie is better is stoooopid
26 September 2007
I was reading a user comment on here and someone actually said that Divine does not even compare to John Travolta as Edna. I can't even believe it! Anyone with even half a brain knows that Divine is so much better. Ricki Lake is so winning, and why isn't Leslie Ann Powers in anything else? ever? I think it's very rare to find a mainstream movie actress on IMDb.com with only one credit! I love John Waters and wished he used Mink Stole more in this movie, since she is amazing. Divine's Edna is such a fabulous mother--"I'm trying to iiiiiiiiiiiiron.." and "it's the times--they're a-changin'". Love it. The remake I would rate a 2/10. This one is so much better in every single way.

Mystic Pizza (1988)

I'm going to Mystic Pizza and you are probably not
20 September 2007
Mystic CT looks simply lovely and I am dying to go there and have this so-called amazing pizza. Also, usually any place that's on water is okay with me. If you add a delicious huge fatty pizza all for me and me only, and only an hour and a half from where I live, I am there! Maybe I will buy some salt water taffy there too. Anyways, this movie is okay. It's very predictable and a movie by numbers, and very typical--however, Lili Taylor, who I almost just called Lily Allen, is pretty good. It seems like most people want to talk about how this was Matt Damon's first time on-screen, to which I have to say who the hell cares. He stinks, as does Julia Roberts, but she is even okay in this movie. I would have cast Lori Loughlin as the Julia Roberts role, though. Annabeth Gish has a cool enough name for me to cast her in the movie too.

Karla (2006)
6/10
basically a good TV movie
19 September 2007
...that could have been a lot better. The true story of Karla is very fascinating to me, and "Karla" could have done a better job in portraying her as the sick monster that she truly appears to be. Laura Prepon is OK in the title role, but would have been better if she acted more evil, which is how, in my imaginary world, I see Karla. It plays out sort of in the bland-ish way that many of the more recent true crime stories turned into movies do, namely "Ted Bundy" and the Jeffrey Dahmer movie. They are all sort of bland, TV-movie-ish movies, but then again I would watch all of them all over again. This movie probably will not be remembered for much, but maybe you will be able to catch it on TNT at like 4AM sometime.

Protesters are really stupid to protest this funny movie
11 September 2007
Even Siskel and Ebert said "Shame, shame, shame" after reading the names of those involved with this film! I just can't believe that. This movie is mostly entertaining and completely stupid. People need to realize that Christmas can be taken as a joke, and a killer Santa Claus can be taken as a joke too. That's why when I read that "concerned parents" are simply outraged that a killer dressed up Santa Claus is on the loose I just had to laugh. There are much better things/worse things to protest than a silly little dumb horror movie. People should still be protesting that "forrest gump" won an award for being the best movie of the year still, not that there is "a killer Santa Claus on the loose ruining Christmas for our precious little children!"

Cake (2006)

Cake is a feminist icon!
5 September 2007
I am just appalled at the negative reactions here to the wonderful, highly addictive series "Cake." This show is so satisfyingly entertaining, with good messages throughout, and three powerful female actresses. Of course, there is the awful character of Benjamin played by a horrible actor, but the character of Cake is such an inspiration to people young and old! And Emily Rose Everhard as the wacky Amy is just to die for, people!! She is too funny and unlike any other child actor on television right now. I hope that "Cake" lasts ten seasons or more. I am 27 now and I still want to be watching this when I am forty years old! That may sound a little creepy, but trust me, this show is why I get out of bed on Saturday mornings!
