Full Circle (2023)

Disappointing.
9 August 2023
Sadly this series was disappointing and not worth watching.

On one hand the story is at first intriguing but is then overshadowed by the bad script. I had high hopes for the series because of the great cast but the writing failed to deliver.

It feels like many people are biased in favour of Soderbergh. Yes he directed and produced the series but for me the writing is why the series is failing.

I really feel bad for the actors since their characters lack in depth and most of their odities don't make sense and are not explained. How they react to specific situation is just not normal behavior which would be okay if they had more depth and if the story would explain why they act like this.

Even the good and well known actors can't deliver because of the bad writing and seeing these actors beside the b movie type actors highlights the facts that a) the well known actors are miles away from their potential and shackled by the bad script and b) the b movie typ actors are really bad.

Sometimes it felt like a really bad indie/b movie type production which confused and irritated me even more.

People - i guess who are biased in favor of Soderbergh like to talk about the complexity of the plot but honestly this series isn't really complex. It feels like an attempt to excuse the bad writing.

A complex story isn't just an arbitrarily story. A complex story makes you think to try to make sense of what going on and gives you more and more information and details to see the logic behind the connecting events and characters - this story won't give you that. Plots are left alone without solving them. Interactions are meaningless or even create more confusion on why a characters is acting how they do.

Overall I really disliked the experience. Its one of the series you watch 60-70% of while being forgiving and giving the series a chance until you realize that it won't get better and notice that you can't ignore the big flaws any longer.

Disappointing.

Just annoying
1 July 2023
Whoever came up the the concept and filmed it failed hard.

Not was it in the beginning confusing -- and not the good confusing kind. The filming was just irritating. It felt so unnecessary to go through the same scene 5 times and adding just a little bit of dialogue to it.

There are many other series, movies and scenes where one feels intrigued by showing a different perspective to a) understand and get the big picture of what happened or b) to see and feel how the scene unfolded from an other perspective which adds a lot to the meaning or how the scene could be interpreted.

Here it done nothing, just repeating so much dialogue and just adding little bits which were not really that important to understand what was happening. It was very obvious on what is happening without it.

It honestly felt like a indie production who came up the idea and messed it up very hard but thought they crushed it. If it would be a Youtube Video I would think that they did it to increase the length of the video in order to put more adds in. It's embarrassing.

They clearly wanted to create a good episode for the end of part 1 but just failed.

Gets boring real fast
21 June 2023
I just watched the 6 episode and I'm question myself why I keep watching this series.

The first episode were intriguing and i was curious what happend but my questions were answered a few episodes later. After this no new curiosity sparked, no new mystery to solve and the back and forth between -- now three -- timelines really bore me with details i'm not interested in and the flow is lost everytime they make a timejump.

The characters are also really boring specially the main character who is really unlikable.

There are many shows which are slow but they keep sparking interest but this series fails hard in that regard. The timejumps on top of this just destroy the series. Nothing meaningful is happening.

I can just give this series 4 stars. I would give Yellowjackets 6-7 and one can compare them. Both play in multiple timelines and include the 'cult' theme.

If the purpose of the series is to show the trauma after such events than I would compare it with Rectify which I would rate 8-9.

The best series which included time jumps the best is Damages.

There are other slow and low budget series like The killing or even Top of The Lake which are thousand times better then this one.

I'm happy for You if you enjoy this one. Be reminded that there are many better series out there.
