He Who Dares (2014)
He who dares - to watch this movie with high expectations of The raid & Die hard mixed?
He who dares is a British action thriller in which terrorists have kidnapped the Prime ministers daughter, taken hostages in a 15 story office block and demanding they be listened to, SAS troops must swarm the building to retrieve the PM's daughter and the hostages safely.
"The Raid meets Die hard" is rather far fetched considering they are both big budget action movies and He who dares isn't.
Simon Phillips plays the psychotic terrorist leader, but seems pretty unbelievable as a villain they were trying to portray in this film.
The effects - lots of slow motion, guns, fights, but nothing to rave about. Just B/C grade action movie which you can sink into if you are a die hard action fan .
Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012)
Universal soldier is back - Bloodier and Brutal!
The universal soldiers return in the form of Jean Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren and new comer Scott Adkins.
Scott Adkins plays John, a family man with a loving wife and daughter who are murdered in their home in an apparent home invasion. When he learns of this tradegy, he seeks on a path of vengeance to bring those responsible to his own form of justice.
The film goes down a much bloodier path with its fight scenes, stunts and acting. Scott adkins plays his role really well in one of his big early action roles. Sadly Jean Claude & Dolph don't get as much screen time as I would've liked, but still an enjoyable action flick to end the UVS series.
Trauma Center (2019)
Trauma Centre doesn't hit the Brucie action
Trauma Centre - An action thriller with Bruce Willis as a detective whose partner is killed while chasing two corrupt cops. A witness is found to of seen the crime being committed and they want all not to see so must be silenced.
The lady is taken to hospital for her injuries, but doesn't know that her life is in danger.
Unfortunately Brucie's scenes are lack luster action with a bit of running, fighting and guns, but would've liked a lot more screen time for his character.
In terms of other actors, the lady did run the film and keep the film somewhat keeping me watching it, but definitely could've been better if bigger budget, but another Brucie film ticked off.
The Marine 3: Homefront (2013)
Mike "The Miz" leaps into action in the Marine 3!
I am currently making my way through The Marine franchise and so far this is my second favourite out of the first three.
Mike "The Miz" Mizanin is Jake Carter, a US marine back home from deployment for 2 weeks to see his two sisters and old friends. When he learns his sister has been abducted by a group of extremists planning to plot a terrorist attack after his sister and her boyfriend witness an execution, he puts all of his training and will power into finding them and bringing them home.
I liked this movie because there was good acting from The Miz with emotional scenes and music adding to the meaning of his family in the acting and good action and fight scenes.
Bad Ass (2012)
Starter of Danny Trejo action trilogy madness!
Danny Trejo is Frank Vega, a Vietnam war vet who becomes an internet sensation for sticking up for fellow citizens on a bus when two low life's are up to no good. Sticking up for Frank means beating them up and getting the care he needs to fit in.
The story is a typical revenge story of getting justice for his best friend who is murdered to keep quiet from telling of a political scandal going on in the city. With vengeance in his hands, he goes Bad ass and beats up anyone who gets in his way.
Different to see Danny Trejo with a beard as he is always clean shaven, but adds to his character! Standard acting and blood effects, but enjoy it for what it is with a bit of Danny Trejo bad ass action.
Acceleration (2019)
Accelerated, but decelerated as it went on
Dolph Lundgren plays a crime lord who has kidnapped a lady's son and to only get him back, Natalie Burns must drive to each location given to her and kill a target. If she succeeds, her son is released. If all the targets are not killed, she will have to face the consequences!
Sadly Danny Trejo, who I have been watching in a lot of films recently only had a 5 minute scene sitting at a table talking to the main lady, so disappointing.
Blood effects weren't great in fight scenes, but still worth a try and watch if you like B class action.
Some characters are a bit dis jointed in their relation to the story, but you might enjoy it.
Le Cinquième Élément (1997)
The fifth element - Sci fi with a humorous action twist!
Going into this film I expected all serious sci fi action, but the added humour element in the film really keeps the story line gripping and telling!
Bruce Willis plays Korben Dallas, a NYC taxi driver who has the fate of the world in his hands when a mysterious young lady with orange hair fallls into his cab. Initially hesitant to help her from the police, he makes a call and drives off onto the adventure he has no idea he has got himself into.
The special effects are excellent for the late 90's and the pictures of the fictional characters look like real costumes! If you are looking for a sci fi action movie with a humorous twist to it with Chris Tucker and Gary old man as the villain, The fifth element is the right choice.
Don't Kill It (2016)
Dolph Lundgren horror - Yes or no?
Me being a big action film fan as watched many of Dolph's films, i thought to give Don't kill it a go! I am not a big horror fan at all, but since it has an action star in it, I pressed play.
To my surprise, it has a lot of comedic horror in the film rather than full blown horror. The horror effects and kills weren't great or no were near groundbreaking, but you have to take it for what it is and let it roll if you like Lundgren movies.
The story about a Demon hunter being helped by the FBI to stop an evil force that is killing off the town does have a few plot holes, but is a good B horror movie if you want to see Lundgren's horror debut!
Battle of the Damned (2013)
Dolph of the dead - Zombie killing robots is kinda cool
Dolph Lundgren takes a move to the Sci-fi action horror with Battle of the damned, a "Flick is almost too much for us to handle" according to Dread central.
Lundgren is Max Gatling, a solider in a private army sent into an Asian city which has been infected and overrun by zombies following a viral outbreak. With survivors he meets along the way, they must come up with a plan to escape the dead roaming the city!
As an action genre fan and a Doplh fan, I thought I would extend that by going down the sci-fi horror route and I enjoyed it! Plot is predictable, but good effects & pictures for most of the film!
