Under the Bridge (2024)
Why are they tippy toeing around Kelly Ellard in this show?
I've watched this series and I'm shocked at how these little jerks got so little jail time for KILLING another person!
I understand some characters are composites of real people involved in this case, but Kelly Ellard (who now goes by the name Kerry Sim) is pure evil personified.
Do a few searches on her and you will see she NEVER has had any remorse for what she did. This trash bucket of a person is PROUD of killing Reena Virk. Canada's justice system is beyond screwed up. Talk about a slap on the wrist for actually murdering someone.
So Kelly's mommy and daddy had money. So what!! I read the book written by Reena's father and what they went through is beyond unbelievable.
I truly think Kerry Sim (aka Kelly Elgard) is quite capable of killing again. Why Hulu has buried her lack of conscience is beyond me. She is a clear and present danger to anyone who comes in her orbit.
We SEE you, Kerry Sim (aka Kelly). I hope Reena's death haunts you as it does Warren who at least has taken accountability for his actions.
Outer Range (2022)
Wow! We are definitely going to need a season 3!!!
This show is AMAZING! Josh Brolin is doing some of his best work in this cowboy sci fi series. It's got a lot of various timelines to keep track of, but your attention is well worth the ride.
The only bad thing is Amazon takes too darned long to get new seasons out. I can't figure out why they would take a hit show and just sit on it until everyone has forgotten the storyline, only to bring it back so much later. It's ridiculous to wait so long, especially when there's a complex story to keep track of.
Season 2 has introduced us to a younger Royal and some new timelines. I personally can't wait to see where this show goes! It leaves so many unanswered questions, so there's plenty of material for a third season!
I'm sure many others are hoping Imogen Potts' "Autumn" gets hers in upcoming seasons! The Sheriff Joy time jump was so well done. She is a pleasure to watch and a real standout in Season 2. Josh Brolin is outstanding. My only regret is they didn't add even more episodes to Season2.
Come on Amazon, bring on Season 3!!!
Manhunt (2024)
Omg, who did the casting for this show???
This is such an important story and the casting has HUGELY screwed the pooch here.
Hamish Linklater Is such a HUGE fail as Lincoln in this show. Whoever thought he should be cast is out of their mind. He's not a great actor anyway, and portrays Lincoln as some high voiced squealing character. It really ruins the show.
Tobias Menzies does a great job as Stanton. I'm only 3 episodes in and the distraction of the poor acting by the other major characters in the story is ridiculous.
The actor portraying Dr. Mudd (only recognizable because he was on VEEP for years) was a joke.
Once again, Apple has wasted our time by not being serious in casting the most tragic story in our history, the loss of our greatest president.
The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys (2024)
What a mess
This entire series is just a display of spoiled men treating women like crap and attempting to act like they're a true farming operation. If you know a TRUE farmer, you'll know they have their egos in check and quietly work the land year after year.
The father is the most disgusting among them. He acts like a 20 year old who can't get enough women to sleep with him. His boys aren't much better, with the exception of the youngest. He's probably better off because he spent more time with his mother than the others.
For the life of me, I can't understand why these "girlfriends" stay for YEARS with men who don't have enough maturity to commit to them. Are they that desperate?
I think you can DEFINITELY use the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" for this show.
Peacock needs to do better.
God. Family. Football. (2023)
What an awesome show!
I'm so happy to see a positive, uplifting show for once! Coach Denny is teaching these kids how to live a positive, faith filled life. The players are respectful and willing to work hard, with great head coaches leading the way. With all the gutters filled TV shows out there today, this is such a refreshing series to watch.
It's not often we get to see shows like this and I wish there were more series like this. Coach Denny and his team are inspirational in their work ethic and learning from not only the wins but the losses as well.
We need MORE shows like this! I hope it gets renewed so we can continue to follow their journey!
Leave the World Behind (2023)
A M. Night Shamaylan wanna be, minus an ending
The story definitely kept my attention, but the ending is non existent. So great to see Julius Roberts back in action.
There were so many different scenes and situations, yet as a whole it doesn't seem like a coherent story. It's a vague "oh, the world is ending" story with zero details as to what IS happening.
Myha'la , playing the daughter Ruth, is the most annoying character they could've dreamed up. They obviously picked the right snotty, self involved actress for that part. Of course, digging in the credits you see Barack and Michelle Obama are producers so obviously they're going to play the "white people bad" card. Same with the Kevin Bacon character, yet another bit of the reverse racism that we see in movies all the time.
Not sure this is worth the time.
Nyad (2023)
If this was supposed to inspire, it fell WAY short
Seeing this is based on Nyad's own book, I can only assume Nyad is as corrosive and egotistical as Benning portrays her. This movie was like sitting through a narcissist berating someone for a full two hours straight.
I was not inspired or impressed by this film, if that was even the point. The people who surrounded her on these attempts were gluttons for punishment, and the actors portrayed that perfectly. Everything was all about Nyad and to hell with their own lives out what they wanted to do.
Interspersed throughout were real news clips about her attempts. This movie is nothing more than a love letter to Nyad, FROM Nyad. Maybe Diane Nyad should rethink her love affair with herself.
Big Vape: The Rise and Fall of Juul (2023)
Wow, missed opportunity here
I was a smoker for decades and I credit vaping with me being able to toss the Marlboro cigarettes away. Boomers like me were and should still be the target market for using vape devices.
Juul screwed up BIG time, using their marketing to target kids. If they would have just stuck with their core mission to help smokers get off analog, this colossal mess could've been avoided.
While I agree kids should be banned from purchasing and using these products, I watch these outraged, politically connected parents who seemed to be BLIND to what their kids were doing with Juuls. I raised 4 kids and I sure as hell knew what they were doing on the daily. They're all adults now and will ALL tell you I didn't miss crap like this. These are the same liberal parents who are happily allowing their children to dictate their gender at the age of four. How could they be this misinformed or caught unaware?
The marketing arm of Juul screwed the pooch totally and ruined this company. The founders, in their quest to make money, sold out to big tobacco and their "do anything" to win approach doomed their company.
Watching the congressional hearings was a joke. There were your usual corrupt politicians, trying to take down a company that may have deserved a comeuppance but I'm betting more of them are invested in defense contractors and making millions from making war in this world. That particular part of the doc was infuriating, knowing how politicians profit from every evil company out there. Listening to them preach was disgusting.
Juul f-ed up. They didn't follow their own mission statement and allowed themselves to be caught up in profit and greed. Their investors should have known better as should the founders.
Where was the focus on the millions that have thrown away traditional tobacco cigarettes due to the option to vape instead? Too bad this doc barely touched on that. THAT should've been focused on as much as these idiotic kids using Juuls.
Telemarketers (2023)
Three episodes that should have been ONE, if that!
I love documentaries and have watched so many I've lost count. This long drawn out 3 episode "documentary" was a disjointed MESS. Using the unreliable Pat as one of the main narrators became VERY annoying to listen to within the first episode. Watching him stuff yet another messy sandwich in his face, he's impossible to take seriously.
I think this entire story could've been told in less than an hour, and the rest was just showing what a wreck Pat was. If anything, this show should be used as a campaign against using drugs. How any subject took these two seriously when they interviewed them is beyond me. Huge thumbs down. HBO must be desperate for material.
Painkiller (2023)
A convoluted manic mess
I watched Dopesick on Hulu and assumed it would be basically the same story, but everything is so convoluted! The music is such a distraction, the jumping and constantly from character to character - it was REALLY difficult to get into the story.
The Edie character came off extremely annoying. Matthew Broderick just seemed to show up and stand there in scene after scene. I'd seen the Duchovney daughter in "Saint X" on Hulu. She wasn't great on that show and and wasn't much better in this.
As a whole, it was just a mess. All the inserted side stories just confused the real message even more. Just an all in all mess.
Domina (2021)
Love this series!!
Domina Season 1 was so awesome and I'm happy to say Season 2 is just as great! This is one of the few shows we look forward to every week and it just keeps getting better!
The sets, the storylines, EVERYTHING is so GOOD. I really hope MGM+ continues this series year after year. There is a so much more to the real Livia's story, enough for many more years to come.
We love shows based on this time period, and this show doesn't disappoint. Nadia Parkes knocks it or out of the park playing Livia, who is the smartest of the bunch.
We had to rewatch some of the first season just to get our bearings on each character. Hopefully a 3rd season won't be as far away.
With series like "Domina" and "From", MGM+ is worth every extra penny we pay.
Justified: City Primeval (2023)
After watching 4 episodes...
Thank God they got rid of Olyphant's daughter playing the insufferable Willa! Seriously, when is Hollywood going to wake up and realize nepotism doesn't work? We could barely get through the first 3 episodes and both started cheering when the annoying daughter got on that plane. Sorry, but zero acting chops there.
Hopefully it's not too late for them to edit her out of any future episodes. I've read the interviews where Timothy Olyphant said his daughter auditioned and got the part fair and square. Give me a BREAK! Her voice grates on every nerve.
If they were going to bring back Givens, why couldn't they pick somewhere other than Detroit? The whole scene there is just so NOT Raylin Givens. Too bad he agreed to this script. What a waste of a comeback.
