Enemy at the Gates (2001)
Ups and downs: Enemy at the Gates.
"The job of a sniper is too wait for the right time, just because the sniper sees you and you don't, doesn't mean they will shoot."
Ups....
Never expected too see the coach from the movie "Radio"(Ed Harris) to be an elite Nazi sniper, but he fits well as an bad guy. The tension behind some of the sniper fights scenes was very engaging. I really liked the music score, it does feel like something that you would listen to while being in a city that has been destroyed beyond belief, and being hunted down by a sniper. I know the movie is dramatized beyond belief, but you have to remember, the legendary Soviet sniper was a real guy.
Downs....
Good lord do some part feel cliche. Its only minor criticism, but the director could have tried to make things feel organic.
Overall, the movie has a special place in my heart, as it one the many movie that introduced me to the history of WW2, but this one to me hits just right. 8/10.
Hotel Rwanda (2004)
Ups and downs: Hotel Rwanda
"The Room service of a lifetime."
Ups: The visuals were very good at depicting the Rwanda genocide and well as the hard ship and survival of the people in the mill hotel. The sound design was greatly designed, and fits perfectly within the movie. It has a great music score, that goes well with the scenes. This compliment is not for the movie but for the real life Paul who was in charge of the hotel during the events of the Rwanda. What he did was beyond heroic and brave. He had saved over 1,000 lives in that survived in the hotel.
This movie is not deserving of any negatives
Great movie 10/10.
Dunkirk (2017)
Ups and downs: Dunkirk
"The Battle of retreating, Who won? I duh no"
Ups....
The movie uses more of a "show don't tell" style of flim, which is unique for most movies, since most movies use characters to explain most things. The pacing is good... There are not a lot of dramatic scenes, which I think helps the movie alot... The movie takes place during the battle of Dunkirk, which is what most ww2 movies don't even acknowledge, most ww2 movies took place in d-day.
Downs.....
I feel like some parts where Over exaggerated...
Didn't like the 3 main protagonists, the movie would have been better if it just stuck to one...
Good movie 10/10.
Unbroken (2014)
Ups and downs: Unbroken.
"And for the next challenge in the Olympics! The wood holding Challenge!"
The ups...
For the 1st time ever, have I ever seen a movie that depicts what it was like to be a POW done
correctly. The director (For a first time movie) Was honestly enjoyable, which not many people get right. I enjoyed the lack of any long and repetitive exposition. The pacing is good.
The Downs...
I feel like some parts are too Over exaggerated, which is common with most that are based on a true real-life story.
Overall, the is worth your time if you are a history buff, like me:)10/10

12 Mighty Orphans (2021)
Ups and downs: 12 mighty orphans.
"Football is your family now."
Ups...
The actors are almost very hard to tell apart from the real-life counterpart.. The ending is not generic like most other sports movies, instead the main characters lose the final game. Takes place in a unique historical setting during the great deperrassion. An enjoyable soundtrack.
Downs...
The movie ending is, like i said before is not generic,However, the movie acts out like they won.
I feel like in some parts of the movie are to overaxerated.
Overall, the movie would be enjoyable to watch, if you are a sports fan.6/10

The Monuments Men (2014)
Ups And downs: The Monuments Men.
"The War for art"
Ups...
The movie main plot idea is unique from other World War 2 movies. Instead of focusing on taking out Nazi weapons, tanks, etc. It instead focuses on art that has been stolen by the Nazis, and focuses on a group that is trying to recover said art. The actors do a great job acting out their parts. (I enjoyed seeing Bill Murray in this movie) There are not many action scenes in this movie, but the joke more than make up for it. Since this movie is based on a true story, it doesn't try too hard to make some scenes feel over-the-top. The Pacing felt good and natural.
Downs...
Like i said before, the movie has good comedy, but lacks action scenes.
Overall, the movie has a unique idea that is executed greatly.10/10.
Bridge of Spies (2015)
Ups and Downs: Bridge of Spies.
Ups.
The movie's setting is unique..Instead of setting the movie in the late 1980s of the cold war like most movies do, it takes place in the 1950s.. The movie handles its side stores very well without interfering with the main plot..The acting is done greatly.. The movie score is enjoyable to listen to. I like the sets and the amount of great detail.
Downs..
The movie handles the side story well, it has a minor pacing issue.. The movie doesn't have a lot of suspense where some scenes should..
Overall, I enjoyed learning about a small part of the cold war, and enjoyed watching the movie itself.. 9/10.
Red Tails (2012)
The Ups and downs: Red tails.
The Ups..
The movie's score is enjoyable to listen to,and fits well with all the scenes.. Action scenes were also enjoyable to watch,They were most memorable.. The sets and CGI were enjoyable to look at.. The movie does a good job to explain information to the viewer. .
The Down..
The acting is very poor, and not enjoyable. To elaborate further on this more, some expressions put on by the actors don't feel fitting in most scenes. The movie feels a tad overxrated, some parts feel fake and stale.. The movie is too unmemorable, and the pacing feels stale..
Overall, the movie has its moments, but its faults are clearly visible. I would not recommend the movie. 6/10.
1917 (2019)
The Ups and downs: 1917
The Ups.
The film itself was very immserve. Everything feels like one Scene, and not a ton of jump cuts, making the journey of the main character beilveable. The score fits very well with the movie, almost every track doesn't sound out of place or bland. The movie doesn't try to be too over-the-top. The movie doesn't leave out anything important...
The Down.
I am not a person who gets worked up about gore in movies, but the large amount of dead, rotting bodys which make me gag a little, but I think this is just a nitpick.
Odd choices of acting can make scenes feel odd to watch.
There are action scenes, but not too fast-paced enough to be exciting...
Overall i enjoyed the film. 9/10.
Harriet (2019)
Up and Downs:Harriet
The Ups.
The movie Perfectly tells the tale of Harriet Tubman and also makes it enjoyable to watch. No scene feels dull or hastily put together, everything feels genuine and real. It does not Over exaggerate real events, and the acting is enjoyable. Action scenes don't feel stale, slow, or actionless. The score fits greatly with most scenes.
The downs.
Some scenes did not feel like enough information on the events that actually happened, leaving some viewers to be confused. The movie takes itself too seriously, and leaves a bad impression in my head. While I did like the action scenes, it felt too unrealistic, and takes the believable action, and it makes no longer feels real.
Lincoln (2012)
Ups and Downs: Lincoln
The Ups
The movie does a good job of telling history events, while also being entertaining to watch.
The movie itself does not try to shy away from anything that is too graphic or disturbing.
The movie mainly focuses on Lincoln to show the process of the 13 amdment, and it executes this falsely without being too overtop.
The Downs.
The movie can be very slow paced and mediocre at times.
There is a constant lack of engagement from the flim.
The movie sometimes does not give enough info about scenes.
Over all the movie for was mediocre, but still enjoy-be. 8/10...........................
The Searchers (1956)
Ups and Downs: The Secarchers
The Secarchers flim,(In my opinion) is a unique western flim. It has its ups and downs, which I shall be discussing in this review.
Upsides:
1. The majority of actors who played in this flim, do an exceptional performance when it comes to acting.
2. The scenes are mostly varied in location and covered in details and props, which feels unique and life filled.
3. The movie shows character development in an exceptional way.
Downsides:
1. The tone of the flim gose all over the place.it shows scenes where it feels serious but then the next scene will show something comedic. To be fair, other western flims like the "Good,Bad, and the Ugly" did show comedic scenes, but were done in a subtle way to not completly change the tone.
2. The Score of the movie is good, but the problem at hand is how it was used. The flim at times plays music where it does not fit the tone of the scene at all. For example: One of the scenes where a character was killed off plays a joyful type of music instead of a dark and evil sounding music.
3. The action scenes just feel a tad stale.
Overall, I do recomend this movie to wach if you enjoy western films.
