A future and a fresh start
11 May 2024
The realm of the apes has returned with spectacular graphics, captivating colors, and sound that immerses you in the film. I want to highlight the visual quality of the apes as an excellent and very realistic piece of work.

Despite its connection to the ape film series, this movie is about a future and a fresh start of a new era. Therefore, it's not necessary to have seen the previous ones to understand this.

Although the script is simple, it presents an interesting reflection on coexistence between humans and apes. However, the film leans more towards adventure, lacking in-depth conversations between the characters.

In conclusion, it's an entertaining movie for all audiences, and visually, it's stunning.

The disaster of the tragedy
12 March 2024
"REC 3" has deviated from all the magic of the previous installments: the characters, the atmosphere... everything.

Indeed, the story needed innovation, but now it has lost everything: the terror, the characters. The fact that it's a prequel doesn't seem like an excuse to me. I don't see the logic in making it after having created such a well-polished atmosphere. It seems like we're watching a completely different movie, one about humans vs. Zombies, with weapons and the goal of survival, akin to "World War Z". For me, it has lost all sense, and after this disaster, I don't think I'll give it another chance.

In conclusion, this movie could have been released independently, and even then, it would have been a film to be minimally approved. However, even so, it seems quite absurd to me.

The continuation of the tragedy
12 March 2024
"REC 2" continues the story shortly after where they left off in the first installment. It maintains the same intensity, more action, more terror, but it forgets something very important: innovation. It can't be that a movie is set in the same building all the time because it becomes too overwhelming.

The characters are still wonderful, and the atmosphere remains the same, which might be the problem. There's a need to explore new connections and spaces to make it dynamic. Otherwise, it becomes monotonous, which is what has happened here. People go in with high expectations from the first installment, and now the level drops due to this key aspect.

In conclusion, it's a good movie but a poor continuation because it lacks a spark of innovation.

The beginning of the tragedy
12 March 2024
"REC 1" starts with a timid and slow introduction of the characters, the reporter and her cameraman, set in an ambiance that feels entirely real. In fact, when I watched this movie, I wasn't sure if it was real or not; the distinction was challenging due to how well everything was crafted.

As they arrive at the building, intrigue begins with a flavor that leaves you terrified because the story could perfectly be real. Then, action and suspense kick in, becoming increasingly tense as the plot unfolds.

I won't give away much more, but the actors are spectacular, and the atmosphere created is incredible. It keeps you hooked in the movie with fear all the time.

In conclusion, I would recommend this first movie for being entirely different from other horror films, for its brilliant characters, and for the ambiance it creates.

Funny
10 March 2024
After watching this movie, I can say that it's been a while since I laughed so much at a specific moment. It's true that it doesn't offer anything new, but the topic was completely innovative for that time, so I understand why it was a "boom" back then. Even though it didn't thrill me, it's one of those films that I might watch again and still laugh. The costumes are spot-on, the plot follows the same predictable line, and the characters act perfectly. Especially for me, Terry Crews seems spectacular.

In conclusion, I recommend this movie if you want to have a good time, laugh, and enjoy it with some good popcorn.

Destruction and Chaos: The New Era
1 March 2024
Dune 2 is visually striking, and the music is a true work of art thanks to Hans Zimmer. I had never seen a film with such a perfect soundtrack, with well-marked sounds and moments of silence.

The story follows the trajectory of the first installment, with a balanced intensity in terms of action scenes, dialogues, and tense situations. This creates moments where you are completely attentive to the big screen, while others allow you to rest a bit.

The film progresses slowly, but the music immerses you and draws you in, depicting a world of destruction and chaos where characters fight for their causes. The main actor's evolution is enormous, and his performance is majestic. The dialogue scenes are well-planned, and the plot has an element of mystery with unresolved questions that make you eager to see the next installment.

The created world of Dune is vast and visually beautiful. The dynamics, gadgets, weapons, and sandworms bring everything to life.

While the movie is almost three hours long and might be considered too lengthy, for me, the hours flew by, especially when the visual and auditory content is a work of art.

In conclusion, this film seems to me a brilliant continuation of the first installment, with a perfect audiovisual level.

Dune (2021)

It's just the beginning
26 February 2024
Dune is launched as a star film of Frank Herbert's novel. In this first installment directed by director Denis Villeneuve, the sides are perfectly contextualized with their characters. There are brilliant visual scenes and the soundtrack is a gem by Hans Zimmer.

It is true that there is not much action or character deepening, because everything has just begun. You get the ingredients ready for the second big movie. It is not easy to create such a world with such a long and complex story to tell.

In this first installment he manages to bring in all the necessary elements for the next Dune 2, which promises to be one of the best films of the year. It remains to be seen, I just know that this film is just the beginning of an adventure full of surprises.

In conclusion, I would recommend this film to immerse yourself in the world of Dune so you will remember this one when you see the next one.

Fascinating revenge
25 February 2024
The Promised Land, a film directed by Nikolaj, tells a story of adventure and drama genre. It is about how the nobles in the past wanted to conquer the lands, but one in particular awaits a peasant, where he will create a new world.

In my opinion, this film fulfills everything to perfection, a traditional but well developed story, the evolution of the characters and the visual shots a marvel.

You enter easily into the film, it goes straight ahead without cloying with details, that maybe I would have liked to invest more time in some scenes. Nevertheless, it manages to absorb every emotion and the moment of revenge is fascinating. It perfectly shows life in the past with inequality in the spotlight, where the nobility had quite a bit of power and the peasants had a hard working life.

The main character Mads Mikkelsen never ceases to amaze me with his great role, just like in the feature film Another Round.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this film for its well-developed story and for Mads' spectacular performance.

The good and dark side of alcohol
25 February 2024
Another Round, a film starring Thomas Vinterberg, tells a story of drama and alcoholism. It is about a study that tries to prove that alcohol consumption improves many aspects of life.

In my opinion, this film has a lot of potential for the message that alcohol is a double-edged sword.

On the one hand, it has the positive side that it makes you glow more and makes you more sociable. This is shown when teachers experiment with consuming alcohol to teach classes with more motivation.

On the other hand, the most negative part is the excess of this substance that makes you uncontrollable and you are not aware of all the actions you do.

In conclusion, the film is a success because of the message it conveys and the need to make education more dynamic.

Laughter
7 February 2024
I found this film very funny and original. It is about how three friends with disabilities (deaf-mute, lame and blind) get together to go out, and each one gets separated and lets himself go.

You can see that the film is very cheerful and narrates the ideal life of many everyday situations such as friendship, laughter and love. Everything is told from a superficial and unrealistic point of view, but it makes it dreamlike and entertaining.

The relationship of the characters is quite curious with each one having their own particularity and the dialogue is quite well done. It works a lot with the evolution of the characters and their connections such as "laughter". In this sense, it combines the funny part with the emotion of connecting with someone.

In conclusion, I liked this movie for its originality and the evolution and connection of the characters.

Poor Things (2023)

animal instinct
3 February 2024
Poor things, a film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, tells a story of the fantasy and science fiction genre. It is a strange film to explain, but it touches many themes such as animal instinct, the reflection between good and bad, the freedom of women in their own bodies and the problems behind it, Emma Stone empowered.

In my opinion, I liked this movie for its different touch and the plot followed. I appreciate the diversity of aspects treated, although it could perfectly have been a series and delve into each of them. I loved the visual shots for their fantastic touch and the narration is also quite well polished.

However, I do not consider it to be a work of art and deserves so many goya awards, because in itself is a rare film and quite possibly a lot of public will not understand or like it. It is innovative in terms of theme and risky.

In conclusion, I would recommend this film if you are very open-minded and willing to enjoy and appreciate the details behind it.

Napoleon (2023)

Treat the movie more like a documentary
24 November 2023
Napoleon could have potentially been a brilliant, mesmerizing, and impactful film, but its major flaw lies in the script due to the lack of coherence in the scenes. It seems like a documentary because it covers too much historical content without delving into much.

On one hand, the characters are quite flat and could have been explored much more. Napoleon and Josephine have not engaged in any interesting dialogue throughout the entire film, and their interaction with their parents is minimal. While the protagonists' lives have been extensively developed, they fail to create emotional impact.

On the other hand, it's clear that Napoleon's life story was spectacular, but the film glides over many iconic moments without fully highlighting their significance. For example, they depict the coup d'état as a fleeting event that happens in a moment, and that part could have been much more polished. Another example is Napoleon's reputation as a strategist who plans surprise attacks before wars, but the movie doesn't emphasize this crucial aspect; they could have dedicated a couple of minutes to it with a scene.

For all these reasons, I believe this film had a lot of potential, but there are several inaccuracies that could have been improved to ensure Napoleon's story is remembered as truly grand.

Past Lives (2023)

In-Yun
17 November 2023
Past Lives, a film directed by Celine Song, tells a story in the romance and drama genre. It is about the connection between two childhood friends during their life onwards.

In my opinion, this movie made me fall in love and broke me inside. It is very carefully crafted from the beginning with its soft and sweet depiction of the protagonists' childhood, until they grow older and older. It is a complex, intelligent and emotional narrative that shows the depth of the expression "In-Yun" which refers to the word destiny. I found the script and the connection of the characters impressive, especially in the final scenes.

Reflecting on the film, in it you can appreciate how there are people who are connected and predestined to this life. On the other hand, there are others who sadly have an even stronger union, but have not gotten to know each other, or due to circumstances, have not met at the best time. At the end of the day we have to accept who we are and what we have to live in the present and future. We can have a positive mentality and attitude, but maybe even so, the different one does not match us with the person we really fit best.

In conclusion, I recommend this film for its depth and well cared for.

Retribution (I) (2023)

I think I've already seen it...
10 November 2023
Retribution, directed by Nimród Antal, is a thriller and intrigue story. It is about how the protagonist finds himself in a rush against the clock for carrying a bomb in his car with his children inside.

In my opinion, this film is a failed attempt of other films like "All the names of God". It has a clear idea, but as time goes by it loses credibility. The characters lose reality in their roles and the story becomes monotonous, although at least it is dynamic.

Liam Neeson may not seem to be at his best in this film, but the fault does not really lie with him, nor with the fact that he is older, but with the script and the lack of originality. There are many empty scenes and some absurd ones where, although Liam acts ten, you don't get to enjoy his essence. It's a shame because I think this actor is brilliant, and he has few films left. Let's hope that in possibly the last one he does, he can stand out and leave a good mark.

In conclusion, this movie can be entertaining if you watch it without judging, but if you watch it with a little magnifying glass, you will see inaccuracies and mistakes.

Money moves the world

Money moves the world

Killers of the flower moon, a film directed by Martin Scorsese, tells a story of the thriller and drama genre. It is about the real story in the 20's where there was a series of murders of the indigenous inhabitants of Osage to acquire a very precious commodity: oil.

In my opinion, I found this film to be magnificent in every way and I was not bored during the three and a half hours. It is a really intense feature film where every scene adds to the story. The conversations are intelligent and realistic. The actors are a ten, especially I give emphasis to the great role of Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone, because whenever they have a dialogue they transmit all their possible truth.

Also, the music and the image have matched during the story with perfect pauses and silences.

The last point to highlight is the magnificent script thanks to Scorsese. You can tell he has great potential and can create art in more than three hours with a great level of intensity.

The director has had the great idea to carry out this film with the criticism and reflection on how money moves the world, that is, there are people who do crazy things for interests; in this case for oil.

We live in a society where quantity is preferred over quality, and once we get something we want more. This thought was already supported by the philosopher Schopenhauer who talked about desire and wanting, since when we satisfy a desire or get something we want, new desires often arise and we want more. This can be seen reflected in the actor Robert de Niro who plays the character of William Hale, with his greed focused on acquiring wealth at the cost of victims.

In conclusion, I found this film to be a work of art: intense, profound, emotional and thoughtful with a spectacular script and, if you are fully attentive, you will enjoy it and time will not be a handicap.

The Creator (2023)

Little depth on AI
29 September 2023
The Creator, a film directed by Gareth Edwards, tells a story in the science fiction/thriller genre. It is about a war between humanity and AI for a weapon with the potential to destroy the world.

In my opinion, I liked this movie, but the script was simple. It is true that both visually and sound is brilliant. In the musical aspect Hans Zimmer has played a key role as in so many other films like Interstellar.

The problem lies in the story and the lack of depth of the characters.

On the one hand, the plot is predictable and does not delve into any interesting topics such as the differences between the AI and the human race. In fact, at one point it tries to, but it turns out to be very shallow. It seems that Edwards prefers to reach a broad audience without complicating himself.

On the other hand, I didn't fully connect with any of the characters. It's probably because the script doesn't try to emphasize the characters' feelings. They tell you about them, but very timidly, without wanting to go into detail.

In conclusion, it is a film that is entertaining, and visually it is amazing, although it is a pity that it only remains in this, because it could have delved much deeper into the AI.

Decisions of kindness
28 September 2023
Todos los nombres de Dios, a film directed by Daniel Calparsoro, tells a thriller and intrigue story. It deals with a terrorist attack at the Madrid airport.

In my opinion, this film has a brilliant beginning, but then it loses strength. It is true that the actors are excellent and act great at every moment. However, the problem is that at no time I have come to empathize with them so much. It is not the fault of the characters, far from it, but of the flat story that shows from afar the events that are going to happen. Despite this, Luis Tosar plays an impressive role and gets a lot of the credit for me liking the feature film. Throughout the film he makes compromising decisions and opts for goodness at all times. He makes us reflect that there are people who, even if they have committed an attack, do not deserve to die, because this obligation has been imposed on them. At the end of the day, we all are and think according to the education we have been taught.

In conclusion, I consider this film to be correct and entertaining with a lot of potential, although with a flat script.

Jump to travel

¡Salta!, a film directed by Olsa Osario, tells a story of comedy and science fiction. It is about how two brothers have experienced the disappearance of their mother and seek to find her through wormholes.

In my opinion, I found this film to be brilliant in every way. It has a comedy part that is very interesting, and you can also appreciate that it is very intelligent in the actions of the characters. Also, it presents a mix of science fiction with scientific aspects of time travel that, with the mixture of all the ingredients mentioned above, is really funny.

To top it off, it touches on thoughtful and sentimental themes that play nicely with the story. Overall, the script is fascinating and manages to connect all the key points of the present with the past and future.

The last point to highlight is that the protagonists reach out to you, the viewer. At least in several moments they have reached me and I have connected with them.

In conclusion, I recommend this movie to go with the family because it is entertaining, touching and different from the traditional.
