Frasier (2023– )

...and gave up after 15m!
3 November 2023
I loved Frasier. Started watching this reboot with zero expectations and ready to embrace a clever, witty, funny older Frasier with engaging supporting characters. Well, right off the bat, from the very first scene, which already sees Frasier taking the back seat and the unfunny supporting characters taking over, all hopes for a great or at least for a decent reboot were crushed to pieces.

Add the ridiculous loud canned laughter and 15m into this trite and I had enough. In disbelief, came here to check some reviews and yes. They confirmed what it just took me 15m to foresee.

Everyone involved in this sad project should be ashamed. Do yourself a favour and avoid this unnecessary and sad reboot in order to keep the memory of one of the best ever American sitcoms and main character as they deserve. I wish I could unseen those painful 15m...

An insult to viewers' intelligence.
14 August 2023
An insult to viewers intelligence, which sums up the ongoing disdain from Hollywood to its audiences for over 10-15 years?

Seriously, how hard is to come up with a compelling narrative? Is there no pride at all from the producers down to the directors, writers(?) and even actors to stop delivering such plotless, ridiculous storytelling failures? Even if they know they will make a lot of money anyway, how can they keep delivering such snore fests and missing the opportunity for timeless flicks that will be praised and remember forever? Is there no self respect anymore? This pathetic film is just another addition to the countless forgettable (and very expensive) movies that are being made. The sad truth is that this is the norm. Like a scam, always betraying high expectations while a lot of peple getting rich in the process. Who cares?

The incredible thing is not just being unable to deliver a great story but not even a decent one, like a 5 or 6. Most of them, like this forgettable mess, are no more than a 2.

What is clear that the vast majority of great movies have already been made. Look back and dig them up folks!

Here is the reality check to really lower your expectations for future big releases.

What is really annoying with Avatar 2, is the missing opportunity to make history, given the excellent first movie, a rare and surprising achievement.

What a huge dissapointment!

I guess that as long as people keep flocking to theaters and paying for these soulless films, they will be keep being made and delivered "to a theater nearer you". Maybe well deserved.

So think about next time you are about to hand out your hard earned money to this money making machine industry called Hollywood.

This is why I did not pay for this and watched it on a long haul flight, expecting to be bad. Oh dear, why I even thought maybe just this one time it would have been otherwise?

This is the best example of an overrated "movie" from an overrated director. Despite its hype, it will eventually go down in history as one of the worst films ever. Really painful to watch and the opposite of what a movie should be. Boring, contrived and meaningless in spite of whatever unjustified praising you hear about it. Maybe a joke. I wonder why Brad Pitt was involved is such an awful project and therefore losing some of his well deserved credibility. This self indulgent drivel which last for some 143 minutes leaves its director as someone who obviously has lost his edge entirely if he ever has one. This is not art, this mess is to be avoided. Don't say you have not been warned!

He has proved himself

Undoubtely one of the best movies made last year. One of the reason is because it surprises you in several ways, not only is a visual treat but it's also original in a way not seen since long in Hollywood. I mean original quality which reminds us why we love films. Witty blend of drama with a subtle touch of dark comedy making up a unique cinematographic cocktail. Having said that, special and satisfying mention to MrSlater, who in my humble opinion has delivered his best work yet without any doubt. Going through his filmography one cannot avoid noting that for whatever reason he's been somehow wasted in many awful films and his career could have been quite memorable so far having done other roles in other films instead. Le't us hope this will be a turning point in his career for the sake of our future entertainment

Life on Upbeat Mars

Warning: Spoilers
This show will go down in history as an absolute classic. I cannot praise it enough. I just finished to watch the second series and still am amazed and excited. I just wanted more! It has got everything you could ask for:brilliant characters, outstanding performances (Oh man, Gene Hunt should run for PM!) riveting plots and nice settings. And well, it all happens in 1973, er, not quite... At almost an hour each episode you may think it could drag itself a little but, er, this is not the case, plot twists and mind-boggling performances will keep you well awake. It is so unique and cheerful that it should be prescribed by NHS.

Year of the Rourke
25 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
What a movie this is! Michael Cimino second best film and undoubtedly one of the best cop movies ever and easily within the top 10 movies of the 80's.There's also a scent of a 70's movie. What really stands out here is Mr Rourke performance which was even better than the one he displayed in Angel Heart. He gives a powerful portrait of a man whom although haunted for his past in Vietnam, he really stands for what he believes and that being that nobody is outside the law whatever powerful they might be. Having said that, what we have here is a tour deforce,he against the odds, against the Chinese mafia and against some bent of plainly fearful bosses whom are very concerned about someone trying to change the status quo by fighting the organized crime rings and their leaders.Stanley White will pay a high price and still being up for it. Special mention to John Lone who makes this film shine even more. Weak points are the weak performance by the female journalist and some editing which was certainly needed (don't hesitate to press the forward button when you see the parade at the beginning which is painfully long). Also worth noting is that this film offended some Chinese establishment in the US as it portrayed the Chinese community in a negative way. Well...er..Chinese Mafia existence is as unquestionable as are other famous mafias, so ...er...get on with it.Also,it remains to be seen whether Hollywood would have made this film today as some politically incorrect references abound mostly delivered by Mr White. Overall a great piece of underrated art, and you are left with the feeling that they don't do films like this anymore. It should get an 8 but I give it 10 starts in order to balance the rating as I think the 6.6 rate is unfairly low. Just watch it!

Death Proof (2007)

Bored Proof

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it was directed by Tarantino a guy who made youknowwhatbrilliantfilms in the past but whom seems to have lost his edge absolutely. This could have been made into a short movie of...er...say...5 minutes. I don't recall such an awful and meaningless dialogue among the characters in a film which lasted...er..some 114 minutes. Nonsense gaily talk for most part of the movie. OK we all love that lap dance but anyway what was the point? Come on Quentin what happened to you man? I reckon that being a multimillionaire does not help very much your creativity.but it will be difficult to made a worse flick. I only felt sorry for Kurt Russel being wasted as he was. You can openly see the potential of his character but feel pity how this mess ended up One last thing, wasn't that car supposed to be deathproof? But not girlsproof? hahaha So do yourself a favour and watch this as a substitute for an sleeping pill when shown eventually late at night on TV.
