Reacher (2022– )
4/10
Dreadful Second Season / Brilliant First Season
20 January 2024
Jack Reacher the movies with Tom Cruise: A brilliant first film with a well written mystery story that kept you intrigued thought-out. Second film was a pretentious waste of time about whether he has a daughter or not.

The same has happened with Reacher the TV series: A brilliant first series with brilliant suspenseful and intriguing story about a mystery Reacher needs to solve.

Second series is nonsensical pretentious rubbish about stolen rocket launchers seemingly by his old friend. And the entire series is based on the "mystery" of did his friend do this or not.

Honestly I don't care, I never once cared, why would they think people cared about this or not when we didn't even know his friend at all? His friend did it or his friend did not, it means nothing to the viewers

This second series is so bad. And this makes it all so annoying as the first series was so good. I hope they make series 3 like the first one again (that is if this doesn't get cancelled due to how bad this second series has been).

Needs A New Series after this
9 December 2023
When watching this all I was thinking was; why does this have to be his last case?

It ends on a good positive note and his relationship with his daughter was handled perfectly and she almost set herself up to be a perfect Sharona/Natalie style sidekick for a new series run if this happened.

Tony Shalhoub seems to fit the role like a glove and it doesn't feel like its been 13 years since his last episide. It just feels like it was a year or so ago he was last playing the role

If they could offer a new series of Dexter many years later they can easily do it with Monk.

All you need is to find a way to get Stottlemeyer into the fold.and you have perfect TV.

The Flash (I) (2023)
5/10
Watched it only for Michael Keaton
24 September 2023
This is the definition of a mixed bag film. Firstly ever since this was announced this has been my most eager film to see in many decades. I loved Michael Keaton as Batman and I loved the prospect he was coming back. In the end I am giving it a 5, for one main reason; Ezra Miller.

'They' cannot act. 'They' have no charisma and is simply annoying. The first 20mins of the film I was wincing and grimacing in my seat hating it just hoping for Michael Keaton to arrive.

Now what made matters so much worse was Ezra Miller goes back in time and meets his teenage self, who is somehow infinitively more annoying. Quite literally think of Jar Jar Binks and you have the sort of level this was played as. This Jar Jar Binks is in the whole movie. Now to add matters worse was knowing the real life criminality by Ezra Miller and all he has been involved in. It honestly made me feel like I was watching a Mindhunter episode seeing him. It was not appealing. The film should have been reshot with someone else playing the Flash. It wasn't like ''they' is a good actor.

An hour in I honestly almost got up and left the cinema. Then Michael Keaton arrived and at first I thought, Warmers have blown it. This is not going to live up to my memory in anyway. However soon that was changed and Michael stole the film completely.

What I will also say, on introduction to Supergirl. I was groaning at that too, as she was first seen as a tiny, skin and bones mess. I was thinking to myself, this is supposed to be Supergirl. Why do Warner's cast people like this to play Superhero's. However I need to apologise immensely for thinking that, because as soon as she put on the suit, her body language, charisma and demeanour changed and I was thinking "wow she is actually a very good Supergirl". This is what happens when someone can actually act. They can give people that shock of what they project.

In the end I have serious mixed feelings - I loved, immensely, Michael Keaton and I loved Supergirl. But I hated the Flash. Now when the entire film is called the Flash I am stuck. Hence I am giving this a 5. It should have been called Supergirl though and just had Batman and Supergirl in it. If the film had of been Supergirl with Batman helping her I would have given this an 8. Watched it Only For Michael Keaton.

Rambo III (1988)
6/10
Has not aged well at all
7 March 2023
When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s I loved this movie and thought it was the best of the three Rambo's.

Now, however, that I am older I find its plotline angers me immensely and it has ruined my enjoyment as I can see it as the attempt at propaganda that it was. .

Knowing what I know now about this particular conflict. America comes across as interfering busybodies arming terrorists for no justified reason whatsoever. And the hero's we are supposed to root for were the actual terrorists who later became Al-Qaeda and spent the following 30 years attacking the west for no reason.

I find it further anger inducing when the terrorist Mujahideen start giving sob stories about all the abuses the Russians were doing to them, to then hear the exact same sob stories be made towards the USA and UK to the letter now non stop by these people to try and garner sympathy towards them. It just shows it was lies being made up for sympathy.

In retrospect it would have been a better film if Rambo was sent in to wipe out the Mujahideen and not support them. This would be a plotline that better stood the test of time.

Director of Photography Ruined this
15 December 2022
This is the only Van Damme film I cannot get through.

I remember in early 2000s this was on Sky TV. I tried to watch it, but the picture quality was utterly dreadful. A quality like those old pirate movies where the cinema screen was recorded on a video camera.

I stopped it after about 15mins feeling it unwatchable. Years later I decided to rent it from Blockbusters on DVD. Again it looked utterly dreadful so assumed a naff transfer again and just returned it unwatched.

Recently I seen this on Blu-Ray so finally thought this will look good as all Blu-Rays look good. And again it looks dreadful. I have realised this must be what the Director of Photography wanted to aim for. As the film is about bootlegging with cheap inferior knock-offs, they wanted the film to look like it was a bootlegged cheap knock off like you used to get with the video camera recording the cinema screens.

Now that's all well and good to have a bit of an in-joke with the audience. But it makes the film unwatchable. I managed to survive till half way through and then turned this off again. This will now go down as the only Van Damme movie I could not complete. And I completed some stinkers. (Looking at you Derailed when I say this)

The Orville: Future Unknown (2022)
Season 3, Episode 10
10/10
Please Renew This For Season 4!
5 August 2022
I was getting worried at the start of this episode. As I was thinking here we go again with yet another episode about Bortus's sexual exploits or him having a wee. I was thinking I cannot believe they are ending this series on this premise as this is going to get this show cancelled. As the Bortus episodes are just not funny, not interesting and they are just cringe and groan worthy.

However after 10mins it completely switched to a very interesting throwback to Season 1s. Episode about the society being run entirely on social media's up and downvotes. And it seems they have brought in a new character to replace Charlie from this world who they gave asylum to.

I loved this episode like I have loved all other episodes this season. I really wish they'd renew this for season 4.

The Orville: Domino (2022)
Season 3, Episode 9
10/10
Truly Excellent in every possible way
28 July 2022
This first two episodes of season three were very mediocre and I felt the magic has been lost. I thought this would just be a meandering average season and this show would then be cancelled and then that would be it.

However, episode 3 was very good. And then Episode 4, and especially episode 6 were unbelievable.

What has followed is every episode has potentially been the best episode of the entire Orville run, episode 5, 6, 7, 8, and this current episode 9.

Every episode has a scene in it that makes the tears flow. Episode six it was Gordon, Seven it was Charly, Eight it was Klyden and in this episode it was Isaac's moving speech at the end. This was a fantastic episode. This series needs to be renewed for season 4.

The Orville: Twice in a Lifetime (2022)
Season 3, Episode 6
10/10
Loved the Episode, Hated the Ending.
8 July 2022
In terms of the Orville, like the unwritten rule in Star Trek that the odd films are all awful and the even ones are all brilliant. Well for the Orville, all the Bortus episodes are awful, but the Gordon episodes are all brilliant. This is an easy contender for the best episode of the entire three seasons.

Every time Gordon gets involved in something you really feel for him. I thought he was 100% in the right here and Mercer and Grayson turned into villains here in this episode

I thought the end outcome was awful. It angered me immensely. It honestly felt like Biff in Back To the Future 2 type tactic. If I was Gordon at the end I wouldn't have been so calm and forgiving about it all. I really hope they find a way to bring Laura back into this. She is the best guest character in the show.

Hollywood Missed the point
13 May 2022
I am a man. If I am going to watch an all female run action film. These women need to be hot. They need to be sexy. And they need to be fun and have a sense of humour.

The first remake of Charlies Angels had all that. Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lui are all that and then some

Do not make a film with man-hating women. Who act and look like feeble little boys. Who can then somehow take out an entire room of grown burly men without breaking a sweat yet looking like they have done no martial arts training whatsoever. But just because they are women they dont need any of that they are stronger than 10 men. Why would any man ever want to see that? And if they did want to see that, it would be disturbing. As it would mean they have a thing for little boys not women.

I mean fine you want to make a film with women. Have them be realistic women. Have them be properly trained in martial arts. Have them be muscular. Have them take hits and damage but still win through. Have them be real to life women; Vasquez from Aliens, Sarah Conner from Terminator 2. Hilary Swank from Million Dollar Baby. Demi Moore from GI Jane. Etc.

Anti-Hippie movie Disguised as Pro-Hippie movie
28 April 2022
I might have misunderstood this film. But how is this in anyway advocating for the Hippie life? The film is effectively two likeable and seemingly purposefully shown to be passive hippies travelling over the country on their Harleys stopping off regularly to give hitch-hikers a ride to where they need to go on their bikes and interacting with them.

Everywhere they go they are hated and face extreme prejudice for no other reason than being hippies; From being arrested and thrown in jail for no reason, refused stays in hotels for no reason, refused service at restaurants, beaten up, again for no reason and then at the end randomly murdered in the street by a passer by.

How is any of this supposed to be advocating a hippie life?

The film overall was poor and did not seem to have any plot to it. I think a much better road movie was Race with the Devil with Peter Fonda and Warren Oats.

The most over the top outlandish film I have ever seen
28 March 2022
In the first film, the villains are North Korea. In this film the villain is effectively Islam.

If this film is to be believed almost the entire London Metropolitan Police force is just waiting for the chance to overthrow the UK and start a Jihad. I am not exaggerating in saying this film suggests the entirety of the UK Metropolitan police force is secretly a Jihadist willing to come at you like a computer game.

What is more unrealistic is if the Entire city of London is under attack, every single world leader is there being either attacked, held hostage or killed by Jihadis and the London Police force is carrying out. And there is no Army, Navy, Marines to call in under martial law to stop this?

The entire people protecting London is simply a team of 12 SAS commandos and one American Presidential Aid (Gerard Butler). Who the latter in turn goes through the streets taking them all out singlehandedly while the Brits and SAS are there saying "we don't know what to do".

The UK counter terrorism force is also utterly useless and need to bring in the American equivalent to secure their networks and bring them back online and also find out who the traitors are in their unit. And it also seems the UK members of parliament are secret Jihadis too who betray the UK at the drop of a hat.

You can tell the writers of this film did not have any respect for the UK and made the UK look like a bunch of imbiciles.

With this said. Seeing Gerard Butler dispose of an entire army of jihadi British police officers single headedly with a dry black humour quip was very fun. And much better than the first film. I honestly cannot think how they will top this in the third film of the series.

Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022)

I loved this till the last episode
27 March 2022
I did not have high hopes for this. I thought it would be terrible. I was wrong. This was the best season since the Trinity Killer. I thought the show creators had managed to get their mojo back and started to remember what made Dexter so good of a show and so good of a character. That was until the final 20mins of the final episodes.

It is so bad and incoherent it almost feels like someone broke into the studio and rewrote the last 20mins of the episode as a prank. They need to do a Bobby in the shower it was all a dream retcon and fix this last episode for a third time till they get it right.

Surprisingly very good
8 March 2022
I always held off watching this thinking it will be some pretentious camp mess only designed to blow smoke up William Shatners rear end.

I tried watching the first 10mins of the pilot and was very surprised with how good it was so watched it till the end. I am now going through season one and the show is maintaining a very high standard throughout. I would recommend people give this a try.

An Un-Dexter-ish ending again.
10 January 2022
Why is it this show Dexter seems to act very odd and without any rationality on what is supposed to be the last episode?

I was absolutely loving this season and was curious which clever way Dexter was going to resolve this issue like he does every other time (except those thats meant to be the last episode)

Yet 30mins in he lumberjacked again and ignored the code and ignored all commonsense.

Rocky IV (1985)
10/10
Review for Rocky vs Drago Directors Cut
15 November 2021
This is a review for the new Rocky vs Drago ultimate directors cut of Rocky IV....(IMDB should put this as a separate film in the database!)

The original Rocky IV was just pure 80s mindless cheesefest. It was tonally very different to Rocky 1 (which won best picture at the Oscars) and Rocky II which I always thought was the better film of the two. It just felt like a video game brought to life. This new Rocky IV Directors cut is completely different tonally and stylistically to the original released in 85. It almost feels like a hidden unearthed Rocky 6 it is so different.

This film is now a downbeat against the odds underdog film following the same style and tone as Rocky 1 and Rocky II. As a result it completely blew me away. I honestly expected this to be the same Rocky IV with a few additional scenes like all the other directors cut's we see released.

This film has shown Stallone to be one of the true greats of film direction as it is truly amazing what he has been able achieve from the source material. It really feels like the true sequel to Rocky 1 and Rocky II. I prey someone gives him the chance to do the exact same treatment to Rocky V. He has shown he can make a masterpiece out of that film from this.

Did I watch a different film than everyone else?
25 October 2021
This film was quite literally one of the worst films I have ever saw. It was 2 and a half hours of nothingness. Almost nothing happened throughout but people standing around having conversations with each other. Which also weren't interesting at all.

The trailer makes great emphasis to suggest Zendaya is the star of the film. Or at least has a big part in the film. I am not exaggerating she is literally in the film for around 5 minutes at the very end and says only around 5 words total in the whole film. Why did the trailer try and deliberately mislead people with this?

There was no action in the film whatsoever. The only action scene in the entire 2.5hr film was a brief street knife fight at the very end. And a brief two minute scene to get out of being captured on a plane. That is all.

I really wanted to like this as I love Denis Villeneuve movies. But this was just 2.5hrs of pretentious boredom.

Enjoyed Half of It
14 October 2021
I was enjoying it until the part were Female 007 just straight up brutally murders the scientist she was supposed to be protecting under orders from "M" all because he made a quip about how the Nanonobots could be set to kill all of her race.

She reacts to this quip by just immediately brutally killing him. Showing in terms of the film she never should have been a 00 in the first place if she reacts like this. In terms of the film though it seems after all of this "I am the first black 007" and "this is the woke bond move" we had to incessantly put up with in interviews before the movies release for two years this is the clear message the film makers wanted to convey is that "racist jokes" justifies murder.

This took me out of the enjoyment of the movie. The whole ending of the movie was preposterous and ruined a good movie till that point.

Knocked me for six
7 September 2021
I seen this because Shang Chi was booked out. I did not expect much from it or really know much about it.

This film knocked me for six. It has an amazing feel good and upbeat motivational message to it. The last film that made me feel as good as this was Eddie The Eagle a few years back.

I gave the movie 10/10 simply because it was the right feel good motivational movie I needed right now to see and would strongly recommend people see this. This is the sort of movie to see if you are feeling down or depressed about your life.

Did not like this
5 August 2021
This was awful. I have been looking forward to this for years but on just watching it. It was awful. Its just woke nonsense.

First of all, in the future, all the worlds leaders are all women. Ted has a non binary trans daughter/son. Who played it as the most annoying character in film history. The plan to bring back the best musicians from all of history, all of them, bar Mozart, are Black. We have a hyper camp stereotype killer robot. Which is just offensive. And I don't want to spoil the ending but think of the worst woke feminist retcon possible and you've got it here.

I wanted to love this movie. I thought even if it was ok I will love it but typical Hollywood ruined it. If this had of been made just a few years earlier it could have been great. Where is the phonebox to send me back 5 years so this can be good.

Enjoying This So Far Due to Emilio
11 April 2021
I am now the third episode in and I am enjoying this. I will say however the Child actors in it are no where near as fun/enjoyable/charasmatic to watch as any of those that were in the (first) movie.

When you first seen the movie you knew the child actors were destined to become stars when grown up. The actors in this series, not so much.

The mother, also, for some reason every single time I see her I am instantly reminded of her "F-me Santa" scene from the movie Bad Santa as that was the funniest scene from the film and likely what she will be known by for the rest of her life.

What is making the series fun is Emilio Estevez. Every second he is on screen he just chews everything up and steals the scene completely. None of the other actors are even close to being in his league in acting chops and charisma.

Emilio Estevez is (so far) not the star of the series but it is teasing you every week that he soon will be. It is this reason alone I am keep watching. I hope it doesn't disappoint. I want to see Emilio's 'No Hopers' give a good hiding to the arrogant new owner of the Ducks (which it wouldn't be the Mighty Ducks underdog story if they didn't).

Leslie Jones Ruined the movie
7 March 2021
Leslie Jones is not funny. She spends every role shouting and screaming her lines and just acting obnoxious and somehow this is classed as humour. It is not, she is irritating.

The premise of the movie is Leslie Jones character was supposed to have drugged and had sex with Akeem the first time around in the 80s and they had a baby he was totally unaware of. So in this me2 climate this is deemed a laughing matter to base an entire movie upon when its a women doing it to a man I guess.

Overall this was an awful movie. It was unfunny and tiresome. I will say however I loved Nomzamo Mbatha as the royal Barber. She stole the film and made it a 4 as opposed to a 1. And John Amos is brilliant as Cleo McDowall as is Shari Headley's Lisa McDowell. They were the only sparks in a tired by the numbers movie. Everyone else, especially Arsenio Hall, looked tired and lacking any energy.

Tedious....
6 March 2021
This is a review for the Ultimate edition. I have not seen the Theatrical version.

This film should be a lesson during film school on editing; It is far too long with too many irrelevent, overlong and dragging scenes that turned what might have been a good movie into a boring overlong mess.

For example, when Superman dies you know its the end of the film. But there is still another 30mins to go of irrelevent tediousness like a fully shown funeral, then people talking, then more people talking and other people talking.

Everything there should have been cut completely. Then you have the frequent Bruce Wayne dream sequences where often you don't know what you are seeing is really happening or another dream. They were a waste of time and should have been cut. What purpose did they serve in forwarding the plot?

Then you have the incredibly overlong task of simply bringing in a rock of kyptonite into America from India. Why was any of this needed for the plot? What did it serve to the story where it could have just been brought in and saved 30mins of irrelevent and boring story.

Bruce Waynes parents being killed. Does anyone not know this backstory? The film clearly makes the assumption you already knew the Batman origins story so why even show this entire sequence, and repeat it multiple times but to drag down the runtime?

In the 80s and 90s film makers had a goal to make a film enjoyable instead of just making it an overlong borefest. Thus they almost never went over 2hrs and usually kept the film to the golden 1hr 45minuutes and cut their films down for pace. In the 2010 and 2020s we have lost this and film makers just allow overlong pretentious borefests.

Watched this solely for Gina Carano
24 February 2021
I have started watching this today for the first time just to see Gina Carano in this.

I loved the original Star Wars films 4-6. I hated the Phantom Menace, but loved the Revenge of the Sith and as a result I was very eager to see the new Star Wars films. However all three were dreadful. I therefore gave up on Star Wars.

I have watched this series today solely for one reason, to see Gina Carano in this. And I will say the series so far is fantastic and the best thing since Revenge of the Sith. I love its gritty atmosphere as opposed to aiming for children. Gina Carano is way better than Daisy Radley and much more believable an action heroine and has way more charisma. Disney are muppets for sacking the best actress suited for Star Wars.

Far too long...
22 February 2021
This would have been a fantastic 1hr 45 minute film. The problem is this film runs for a whopping 2hrs 30mins.

This is a film that needed an editor to cut back scenes. They run too long and there are many irrelevent to the plot scenes dragging this movie down considerably.

If this had of been cut back this would have been an 8/10 film. As it stands now I gave this 4/10.

See the Daria Argento original instead.

Scariest Thing I have Ever Seen
5 July 2020
I have seen everything from Cannibal Holocaust, to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and this was the scariest, most distubing thing I have ever seen.

I put this on at 2am to watch not expecting it to be what it was. Big mistake. I had to turn it off after 30mins as I couldn't bare any more of it. And could not sleep that night (even with sleeping tablets) as a result and fellt very uneasy the next day.

This first episide made me feel phsycially sick, and paranoid that I was radioactive.

A few days later I put it back on and watched it again and then marathon watched the entire 5 episides one after the other (again going all the way till 4am to do so).

The first episode is literally a horror, one of the most disturbing ever created. The other 4 are good drama episides.
