Zombi 2 (1979)
Lucio Fulci knew zombies pretty well
Zombie 2 is a decent zombie flick. The script isn't very creative and the actors seems a bit amateurs, but I think its easy to forget about these negatives aspects of the movie.
Fulci was a master of the gore and there are a lot of disturbing blood scenes here. I must say that a scene involving an eye and a piece of wood took my sleep away.
But what I will not forget is a fantastic duel between a shark and a aquatic zombie. I'm not kidding.
As you can see, Zombie 2 is a very bloody and sometimes suspenseful movie. If you are a zombie lover you'll have a lot of fun.
Coração Vagabundo (2008)
Not worthy of Caetano's music
I'm not a big fan of Caetano Veloso, but I admire him in many ways. I like him because he usually says what he wants and he has a really nice voice. Moreover, he was one of the leading names of the Tropicalia movement, which changed the course of music in Brazil. There are many problems in this movie. For example, the director Fernando Grostein loses a lot of time showing Caetano hugging a three and petting a bird. I mean, what's the point? This documentary don't have a plot, it don't have a purpose. It's nice to see Antonioni and Almodovar here, but they seem displaced. Even with only 70 minutes it's a boring movie to watch. If you're not Caetano fan, stay away.
The Road (2009)
Excellent work
I'll try not making any comments about the book or the adaptation process.
The movie works most of the time, thanks to the dark, gray and sad cinematography job made by Javier Aguirresarobe, and, of course, to the stunning acting by Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smith-McPhee.
It's a hard movie to watch. The human kind and the Earth itself are basically gone and there is no much hope left. We suffer watching the difficulties in living at such times, but we admire the courage of a father and son that are not corrupted by the situation.
As you see, this is not a walk in the park. The Road is a disturbing movie, but if you look closer, you will see many inspiring stuff here.
Highly recommended.
Where the Wild Things Are (2009)
Brilliant
This is not a movie for children. They'll probably be bored with this, although they might like the monsters.
So, it's a movie for adults. It's a fantastic opportunity to remember those days when almost everything was possible. When our imagination could make us have fun for a whole day.
Where the Wild Things Are is a intense movie, with very emotional aspects. The little boy made an excellent job. The movie works because of him. I don't think it's a fun experience. I mean, I laughed sometimes, but mostly I was with that nostalgic air in my mind. But in the good way.
Man, this bring me memories... you will probably have tears on your eyes in the end. I will see it again one day.
